Well as is said in the title my internet explorer or google chrome opens up randomly with either a investing website or a porn website, i can not find a process for it or anything it just appears.

I have 2 pc's doing exactly the same thing, the one pc is vista the other is xp and the xp one is newly reloaded with just the bare essentials so no funny stuff (guess it could have come in via a memory stick too)

Does anyone know how to get rid of this virus? I have avast installed and avg but none pick it up.

Hope someone can help

I would suggest downloading and doing a full scan with Malwarebytes : http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Its free and about 4Mb to download.

Spybot search and destroy is also good to prevent stuff from coming in in the first place including a slow but effective scan system : http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html

Remember to update both, and in the case of Spybot, immunize your system

Sounds to me like you have a trojan / adbot running on your system (probably plugged into services.exe or something that is causing this.

Also check out your registry for funnies : HKLM/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENT VERSION/RUN and HKCU/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENT VERSION/RUN - sometimes the little nasties hang around there :)

Let us know if you need more info or assistance. You can PM me if you need more info too :whistling:

Are you by any chance using a memory stick or and removable media to install from?

Viruses could be on those drives/media.

i did not do the installs so unfortunately i don't know but i am suspecting removable media since it is the first time these pc's even come in close contact.

Definately malware (not a virus). install malwarebytes, update it and run a full scan.
