Internet Explorer vulnerability used in Google attacks

If everyone had moved to IE8 they wouldn't have had complaints... But who uses IE anyway. Chrome (+ IE Tab if need be) FTW.
While Intranet Exploder 8 is surely better than IE6, there will probably be similar exploits using IE8 simply bcos Microsoft has not done enough to redesign IE8 and fill the security voids that Microsoft is infamous for.

Pfft - using IE8 at the office and when entering FB's url I get directed to spam sites offering gifts if you leave your e-mail.

Only way I could access FB was by searching in google and then using the link from there.

German government warns against using MS Explorer

The warning applies to versions 6, 7 and 8 of Internet Explorer

I love it!

Contrary to popular belief, technology will progress more quickly as soon as [-]Monopoly[/-] Microsoft becomes a bit weaker. They shouldn't disappear, they should just become a lot less influential.

Well from the report, if DEP was enabled then this wouldn't have happened. Luckly Windows 7 gives you the option to uninstall IE8.

Google said over 20 other unidentified firms were also targeted in the "highly sophisticated" attacks while other reports have put the number of companies attacked at more than 30.

The "attack" targeted way more than just Google.

Never knew that. Thats awesome!:D
It sounds great until you discover that an older version of Intranet Exploder components used by the actual operating system, [probably] take over from the uninstalled IE8 components...
