Internet session disconnect issue

I have tried Windows 7 as well, does the exact same thing. It seems to disconnect when transferred bytes reach between 1 - 2GB's. I hope they can resolve quickly as this is very painfull to reconnect every now and then....

I created a batch file that utilises rasdial to terminate and reconnect my Neotel session every hour. This is helpful if you leave something downloading when you go to work and don't want to find out nine hours later that Neotel stopped responding ten minutes after you were out the door.

Seems to work like a charm so far :D

Would be better if I didn't need to do it at all.

Hi all,

We have made some changes to a small sample of sites (as a pre-cursor to applying it across affected areas) but this has not yielded the results we hoped and expected.

More solutions are currently being tested.

Will keep you posted.

So you guys don't know what the problem is?

I can't even stay connected for more than 2 mins. The minute I start a download, I get cut off and general browsing just stops too. I don't get disconnected as such, the Neotel Manager says Connected but isn't recieving anything.

Either my phone isn't working properly or the tower near me isn't. I'm really getting the hell'in. How are we suppose to work??

I think hold on another week or two before you jump to that conclusion.

I really doubt a change in windows operating system would make any difference to a dial-up connection's reliability. I've had the same issues on XP / Vista and Windows Server 2008. I'm not sure windows 7 is going to have the answer when Neotel are blaming the issues on network load.

Wouldn't that be nice though... problem solved and we can all get a great internet connections:rolleyes:

lol, wonderful. alright, let's wait a while and see how it goes.

My connection keeps dropping (no data) every 10 minutes. Anyone else?

Well my mom got prime On Thursday and after 3 days with a longest connection time of 1 hour she gave it back to them Tuesday this week.
Vodacom 3G thanks you for another client...

I am still hanging on with Neoflex, though not sure how much more down time I can take.

I just don't get it - from 18:30 Yesterday until this afternoon I had my some great connection and uninterrupted service for the first time and then PFFFT gone - so what did you guys go break that was fixed??????

Now No Neoflex, No connect signal, no internet service. All these antennas, my router looks like a porn star with a limp .....

Mine doesn't really drop through out the day. The minute I open Download Accelerator Plus download manager. The Internet stops, when I close all is fine again? I was told by Neotel to us DAP so I don't see why it would be causing issues.

Normal downloads are about 60-110kbps which I'm happy with but they only get to about 30%-40% and then the whole internet dies. That's just through normal Firefox downloading.

Rapidshare...since all this started..has just been sitting on 0.00kbps for all the downloads, it won't do anything.

Anyone else having these issues?

This is ridiculous.

I’ve been having the problem on and off, in the last 2 weeks. First it was more like after about 4-5 hours of downloading, the connection would just go into hibernation, alive, but not doing anything. Then I contact technical support where they take me through the routine checks of flushing the DNS, checking modem settings, reboot the modem etc. After purchasing the Dovado unit (which is brilliant) I was much happier, as the unit would restart itself and the connection when it decides to become dormant, and within 3-4 minutes the connection would be up and running again, no problem (downloads wont have been stopped for 9 hours). However the last 3 days have been the worst, after a successful connection (which has been far less lately) I would possibly have a connection for 20 -50 seconds, downloading at maybe 7 – 15 Kb/s, and then nothing, and the Dovado unit would try reconnect for anything from 5 – 20 minutes before I can download again for mostly under a minute and then the whole sordid thing starts again.

I am really getting to the point where I almost love Hellkom, because Neohell doesn’t seem to know what is wrong.

I would much rather have slow stable connection (read ADSL) than no connection for 70% of the time.

I sincerely hope Neotel gets to sort out their problems before I finally throw in the towel.

+1 Exactly the same for me.

Sat an hour on the phone with Neohel support, got me no where, "I guess it's a Network issue". FFS

I'm sick of bad internet and service in this country. As I type I'm having those disconnect issues every 2 seconds. I'm going insane. NEOTEL SORT OUT YOUR PROBLEMS!

Tsugaru, this may be a shot in the dark -but have you thought of swooping your device buddy?

If Tsugaru is having the same problems as I am, I doubt it's the device, as I know I've had good connections before, and the last few days has just been worse, so unless the device (by some sort of miracle or bad design) just got faulty. Then Neotel would have another serious problem on their hands (distributing faulty units or units that become faulty within a matter of weeks).

*sigh*

I'm thankful I haven't cancelled my ADSL yet, at least I can still check my mail and do internet banking etc. I can't imagine trying to do internet banking with a connection that lasts only 20 -50 seconds...

I've been experiencing the exact same issues for about 2 weeks now on my Neoflex Data 10gig. Today (Sunday 10 May) have been the worst day thus far. I've been struggling to stay online for more than a couple of minutes since 9am this morning. Around 6pm I've managed to be able to stay online, but it seems their international bandwidth is clogged up again, as I can barely open any international website. Speedtests confirm this with local downloads 400kbps as compared to 70-100kbps international. International latency is also around 1500ms, and it seems we're back to where we were in Feb/March. Bloody marvellous... Local might be lekker, but my WoW server is in Paris, and my Vent server is in London. Having a connection unable to maintain a steady 10kB/s (80kbps) downlink is unacceptable!

I want a refund for all the months I have paid for up to now, and I refuse to pay until I have 90% proper internet uptime at least! The situation feels so hopeless. :(

Try using the Connection Tracker, as described here: http://www.dovado.com/ice. You won't have to wait more than 1-2 minutes before you're reconnected. ;)

I've had the Dovado unit before i started experiencing the problem with the constant disconnecting. (I specifically bought the unit for the Connection Tracker)....

However, i'm mainly here to give an update on my current experience with my Neotel service.

I was given a call on the 19th, asking if i had any improvements regarding my connection as they had been working on the various sites.

When i checked my connection on my server machine (as i'd been using my adsl for general browsing), i had noticed that my connection was back to its normal stability (disconnecting +- 3 times a day).

*touch wood* I'm reporting back that my connection seems to be back to normal (for now that is)

My connection issues are less than before I started running NeoPing...
But I do still lose connection every now and again. Sometimes after 1 minute other times after 4 hours... there is no pattern... which is making it really hard for me to keep track of.

I am being forced now to use 3G when I want to do Internet Banking... just in case.

I have noticed that when I experience disconnects and try and reconnect, if the IP address remains unchanged from Neotel, the problem seems to remain.

If I reboot the phone as many times as it takes to get a new IP address (and sometimes this can be many times) the problem doesn't totally disappear, but will only disconnect, say, every 2 or 3 hours instead of every 30 minutes.

So I would guess that there is a load balancing issue at Neotel, not sure if the Seacom cable will solve this, but maybe if they get some network engineers they will be able to sort it out.

Ok, that was the last frikken time i'm going to say anything good about Neotel. I could swear this is a conspiracy.

I get Neotel, runs perfectly for 2 weeks, and i tell everyone how good it is. Then i start getting crappy signal and service. I then complain to Neotel and get the standard "we don't know whats wrong or how long it will take to be fixed".

Then i start telling everyone how crap Neotel is, and 2 weeks later i get good signal and service. But this time, i waited 4 days to check it out, and all was well. Then i posted to this thread, that my problem appears to be fixed....

Guess what....

My connection and service is up to ****!!!
(I thank heaven that i still have not cancelled my ADSL yet)
