Hey Friends,

Just a quick note:

IS is currently experiencing problems on one of their lines. ISDSL, Diginet, Dial-UP and ISDN clients will be affected.

It would appear that one of Telkoms lines died on them.
(Dont all problems originate with Telkom?!)

I will keep you informed as more news comes in.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

Always seems to be the excuse. Whatever happened to redundancy? They are relying on telkom afterall ...

Happily for me I now have a backup SAIX account, which I am forced to use right now. :(

I'm getting sick of this ****. I am very sorry to say that I had FAR less issues on SAIX. This may very well be the last month for my IS account

A question on this.

I am now with IS. 40 minutes ago I could do local dns lookups ( Nedbank, myadsl ) but no international ones. DNS set to those prescribed by IS. So I changed the 2nd DNS to 196.43.1.11 which I believe is Telkom, and then all lookups worked. Does that dns server allow lookups off other networks, or might IS have suddenly come up?

IS seems to be back up. I will keep this thread update of any changes.

... seems to me the infrastructure (if you can call it that) is getting worse - last month it rained virtually non-stop and the International connections were dropping like flies - probably due to lack of or no maintainance... why spend money when you can make an absolute killing?!

... anyway, it seems that this month we will now have our International connections going on and off line due to the wind... maybe next month, someone will fart and whole system will crash...

To Telkom, SAIX, or whoever you people are out there responsible for this supposed great ADSL service - maybe it's time to start cutting the profits a bit and servicing the paying customers!

There's my rant for the month...it's about all I can do... :)

is it REALLY Telkom's fault all the time? could just be using them as a scapegoat all the time, covering up for their own mishaps.

Hi

We just got this from IS after a query on why their internet was slo...

Related to new IPC link Telkom installed on the weekend.

Telkom was able to splice the fibre this weekend which was good progress.

There is a mandatory 72 hour soaking period which commenced on Saturday.

Some errors were picked up so they began another soaking period this morning - Telkom will try to shorten their 72 hour standard.

Most of the complicated work has been done so we estimate that we should have extra IPC bandwidth by Monday 13th March at the latest

Thats it!

Different thread, same story. Do we really need to get into this in every single thread no matter what the topic??
