Hey guys - hope I'm posting in the right thread!

I just wanted to find out something general: we want to get an uncapped internet option. Uncapped ADSL I guess - it will be wireless. It's a 384kbps line.

Is this okay-ish? In terms of download speeds, would it be very slow? How long would a 300mb file take to download?

My mother doesn't care for a super fast line so I have this internet speed to work with.

Depending on where you are located, the minimum line speed these days is 1Mbit. Some areas still only have 384kbit lines though.

On a 384kbit line your downloads will top out at around 38 - 42KB/sec. A 300MB file will take around 1 hour 49 minutes.

On a 1Mbit line you will get about 100KB/sec. A 300MB file will take around 42 minutes.
