Hi
I am looking for some advice as to what I can do to solve my Internet woes. My house is in Randpark Ridge Ext 3 with its back against Beyers Naude. The telephone polls are on Beyers and have been black listed by Telkom because the lines keep getting stolen. Fibre has yet to come to this area (despite the fact that I can see adverts for it on Beyers if I look over my wall...
).
About a year ago I got hold of a Telkom area manager, some woman named Gloria, and she said perhaps they could move the polls to the front of the house where it would not be black listed. I bugged her every single day about this for about 2 months, when I finally gave up.
I have since gotten Amobia, which have supplied the speed and latency I require. For a year they have been fine, but for the last 2 months I have been without internet more often than when I have a connection. I have phoned their support line over 100 times in the last 2 months. They are expensive (paying about R1500), and their service is no longer working for me.
What are my options? I need at least a 4 meg line, 30 gig cap (preferably uncapped) and a 50ms local latency.
I have investigated LTE, which is also not offered to my area. The latency looks like it would be too high anyway.
Advice?
