Interstellar

About time, too.

Did the IMAX version suffer from the same intermittent, blaringly loud music that I experienced during certain scenes?

Very little from what I noticed. I can only really recall one scene where you were strained to hear what the characters were saying. But it didn't last long and otherwise it worked well.

Then I think it was a combination of the cinema's sound system and the way that the sound was mixed. It wasn't horrible, just mildly annoying.

Interstellar has been beaten to number 1 spot in North America by Animation film 'Big hero 6 '. The latter grossed $56m while Interstellar took in $52m , $3m less than predicted. This is Christopher Nolan's first movie to not open at top in its opening weekend in North America since 'Insomia' i guess.

Interesting to see a video on black holes after you watch Interstellar.

Combines elements of Contact and 2001:A Space Odyssey, Interstellar is quite simply one of the greatest space movies ever made.
The key here is the casting and acting because the story has been covered before in different guises over the years. mathew Mcc is one of the best actors working today and he's performance will bring you to tears especially if youre a parent of a daughter.
You'll understand the bond he has with his.

The supporting cast which includes Hathaway and Caine are brilliant.

The visuals and especially the sound are of the highest degree. Special mention goes to the score which pays tribute (classical ) to Kubrick one scene while establishing it's own unique tone and rhythm.

Movie should be viewed more as a philosophical piece about time and gravity rather than an out an out Sci fi.

The tagline for the movie Irreversible by Gasper North says "Time destroys everything" and it's so fitting for the themes of this movie.

8.5/10 for me and it's Nolan's Magnum Opus.

Why does it say it's a remake of Bollywood movie Dhoom 3 at
Wikipedia under plot?

On imbd.com it has 9.1/10 after 132 000 votes. This is Mr Nolan's highest rating and its better than Avatar.

Watched it last night on the Imax and was blown away. The sound effects and soundtrack was epic in the Imax.

You forget, Avatar didn't exactly have a unique original story line or plot. It was a festival of special effects thats all.

I'm keen to see this on IMAX. Is it worth the 140km round trip?

Not really but that's just my opinion. Visually, this movie does not come close to Gravity and should not even be compared. Chris is not a fan of 3D and he keeps the CGI he incorporates into his movies as little as possible and he relies on the story to carry the film. This formula made Interstellar feel a lot less fictional...
