Inverter Battery losing capacity

Yea most likely the shunt was out of touch with reality

It happens , they recalibrate to 0/100 when they hit those SOC

The bms shunt can't count losses, so it kinda goes like this

You have a full battery you use 50% and lose 0.5% to losses balancing heat whatever

Bms thinks battery is 50% actual 49.5%

You charge 40% bms thinks 90% but you had losses again so actual is now 89% not 90%

Rinse repeat many cycles while not touching 0/100 battery thinks it is at 50% SOC while actually at 15%

So you use 15% you and bms think you are fine poof low voltage shutdown

All calibrated again and the song and dance repeats itself

If you hit 100% at least every few days , it can correct the displayed soc to be correct

ie when it hits full voltage either pack/cell (bms dependant) the bms will mark it as 100% soc and start counting from there again

The guys did send me the firmware and update tool - but I seem to have misplaced the RJ-45 to DB-9 cable I had. Does someone know the pin-outs?

If it hits 100% daily , then shunt drift isn't the cause for the event

my take doesn't apply

I would check individual cell voltages

And check if the soc it discharges to has changed since the event
 
Fixed it today using a RJ-12 to DB-9 cable I made myself

My Volta Stage 1 did that a week or so ago, still waiting to hear back from them on how to get the firmware update done.

Good morning, My batteries are doing exactly the same now, and I just cannot seem to get it sorted even after all the suggestions. Would you please be able to advise if you managed to have yours corrected and if so how you managed it please? Thank you in advance. Francois

When My AC power goes off, my inverter states that my battery losses it's voltage and capacity within seconds.

I have checked my battery and even bought a new one. the inverter still says the same when AC is off.

I am only running my TV and my wifi router off the inverter.

Any advise in what the problem Might be and how to fix it?

It is a 1kw inverter with a 100ah Deep cycle gel battery.

It is a 1kw inverter with a 100ah Deep cycle gel battery.
Voltage will drop when you put load on it, that is normal. What you need to watch is the voltage doesn't go below the 50% voltage for LA batteries.

that is the thing, the voltage drops below 50% within seconds and the capacity runs from 100& to 0%.
 
I purchased a new battery after it happened the first time, and it is still doing that with the new battery.
Ok, what inverter is it, what TV are you running, is it 1 single 100ah battery?
Also generally gel batteries aren't really great for backup power solutions.
 
it is a 1KW inverter. I am running a Hisence 70 inch, and yes, only 1 single 100ah battery
 
Maybe the new battery is DOA? Have you got a multimeter to check actual battery voltage?
I do not have a multimeter no.
when I connect the battery to my father's inverter, everything works well.
that's why I think the problem is with the inverter?

Well I think we've found the issue, get a new inverter
