IOL hit by DoS attack

Hacktivists take down the IOL website with a DoS attack to protest the article “Mugabe hero of African liberation”

IOL probably couldnt be reached because they are in disaster recovery mode.
I would hate to be an engineer there now.
Anyone have any idea how long it would take them to recover from something like this?

The IP filtering will be really tough.
Still its been reported on and their downtime will mean people have noticed. Im quite interested to see what kind of response will come from this, I have never really followed one of these before.
Is anonafrica related to the Baba Jukwa stuff I saw on facebook recently?

I hope for your sake that you posted that through one of your zombie computers.

and a couple of bncs going through countries like iran and israel

just going through a zombie is not secure enough, you need to chain them

Look while I stand by you in some way, can you perhaps explain to me why taking down IOL was done? Its not like they agree with the article or am I wrong?
Stand to be corrected

They might think twice before putting carp like that on their website again.

you should go back there

Publishers should take more responsibility for the (crap) articles posted on their websites, rather than shrug and say "We're just reposting what we get" so good on you guys

Good they're still down.

The response from Mr Otto was lame.
Zimbabweans have first hand experience of the dictator Mugabe and the ongoing hardships caused by his regime.
Mr Otto needs to take responsibility for the crap that is posted on his main page. iol benefits by having emotive articles which isn't even news as they will get more traffic because of outrageous articles like that. For him to now shrug his shoulders shows how apathetic his is to the misery caused on so many by the Mugabe regime.

Fully support the hacker(s) who did this.
