IOL,, wtf?

Damn - very irritating indeed. Wonder what their aim is - celebrating freedom day by irritating people?
 
wtf indeed - running FireFox 3.0.9 - after that grey screen "intro" the scrollbar for the site is gone. You can't scroll down. Also - it is not even cookie based, it happens each and every time you go into the site.

:( - one less news site to frequent I guess.

Update:
Just emailed them too about it. They have any idea the number of support queries IT departments are going to receive (well those that are at work at least)
IE 7 oddly enough crashed after viewing the iol page the first time. At least it's scrollbar works :p (oki IE crashing is not that odd .. I must admit hehe)

gregmc - yeah it seems odd. It only launches the grey thingy if you click somewhere. Let the page load fully before you click.
 
Firefox 3.0.9 here.

I thought I had a virus at first as it took my mouse pointer and scrolled it all over the page before it turned black and showed the message.:confused:
 
I've got Flashblock installed and its messing up the entire window!

Great - infinite loop on safari. One less site to waste my time with . . . and that is the freedom I choose to exercise.
 
Site is behaving for me. FF with flashblock, adblock, noscript.
 
Still doing it today.
Will go back to IOL when it is removed from their site.
 
I think it's actually quite a good idea. It's just a pity that it seems to cause problems with some browsers/plugins. I think it is important for people to spend a few seconds (and that's all it takes) thinking about the reason for the holiday. I have the same opinion regarding Easter and Christmas.
 
I dont see anything... although I voted "pleased" on the poll :D

Not because Zuma is president but that the elections went smoothly and that the majority have the president they asked for, I'm not going to denounce the majority.
 
gee, it should be marked by google as unsafe. afaik enforcing behavior is hostile.
 
I don't think its that bad.

It has a reason behind it and it worked as intended on my system.

Its only suppose to be on for one day so....
