It literally does as well as the hardware for the cycle count/age/first use data only on 15. You can get the same functionality using coconutbattery since Apple decided to wall the feature to 15 models only. Sometimes Apple can be really full of schit

I found it quite shitty that although my iPhone 13 Pro has a 24hz screen, they decided not to implement for that reason (apparantly)

I use this feature on an Android Tablet that is in use as a HomeAssitant Dashboard mounted in the kitchen (and consequently permanently plugged in).

I do however concur with the author of the article who says that "AppleInsider continues to recommend users stick with Optimized Battery Charging and avoid this new setting." for my phone.

Just doesn't seem worth denying myself 15-20 percent extra battery life in day-to-day use for a few extra weeks of longevity at the end of the phone's useful life.

That said, it would be academically interesting to know why that feature is constrained to the iPhone 15

How many times do you hear 'my old iPhone has the latest iOS - and your Android?' ... when it's technically not always correct. If iPhone 13 , 14 and 15 are each running the latest iOS 17 with different feastures & settings - I'd hate to see what has been left out or different on the older models . Maybe the the hood differences? Ei

I mean fast charging as in higher than 20-odd watts .

That may have been fast a few years ago, but now it's pretty stock or even below par.

But when you ask somone,they say Apple decided against it beacuaes of battery degradion, which will will likely be overcome in iPhone 16. Anyway before this thread gets off topic, I th ought I'd post about the extra settings iPhone 15 has on the battery .

It's quite fascinating actually.

Seems that the feature is so esoteric in Apples' view that it isn't even in the official pdf listing all the features of iOS 17 (https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-17/pdf/iOS_All_New_Features.pdf)
 
I am so miffed that iPhone 8 was cut out of this update - but on my 14 it works very well!

I can attest that AlwaysOn + Standby is fantastic - works brilliantly as my bedside clock - almost transformative tbh
 
I've been on the RC since it was released and performance has gradually decreased. I'm now getting frame drops, especially in the shortcuts app.

Yea I used to have an Android - so Always On is great .

But I see the iPhone 13 Pro turns off the standby mode because it doesn't have Always On - right ?
Always On was cleverly removed because the screen would consume too much power being only 24hz?
And standby works only when the charger is plugged in?

Have I got it right?

A 'battery eating' feature was removed, meaning a feature that works with a charger doesn't work either ?
