Been running iOS5 for 24hours now. Really enjoying it.

Notifications and reminders are stand-out features for me so far.

iTunes is a pain, the window resizing is all over the place and it seems to hang a lot especially when syncing. iOS 5 on the other hand has been pretty stable, the notifications are cool as is iMessage. I've already made use of the quick link for the camera on the lock screen. Speed feels about the same as iOS 4 to me.

Any idea when it will be available for regular peeps ?

July/August I think.

Safari Browser started to crash tonight. Crashes after about 15 seconds (BGR, Engadget, and others).

It all went to hell now ...

Did a soft reset to see if I could get the browser crashing sorted and then my iPad rebooted and insisted that I do a iTunes restore. Tried to do a restore but iTunes wouldn't pair no matter what. Eventually did a Full restore to 4.3.3 but after this iTunes wouldn't restore the back-up ... insisted to set up a new iPad. Done that and am now reinstalling all my stuff ... arrrrggh!

I'm not sure if people realize this, but the point of beta testing is to find bugs, not to let a few people use [un]finished software early.

I'm sure most, if not all, participating here knows this. We are curious, so we'll give beta versions a spin. When the next beta comes I'll give that a spin too.

Could you not use a pre iTunes 10.5/iOS 5 backup to restore from?

Things are still great on my iPhone.

I tried. iTunes kept on giving me an "unknown error" when I tried to restore from my back-up. It also would not allow me to install an older stable version of iTunes. I created a new iPad but should have uninstalled iTunes 10.5, rebooted, reinstalled iTunes 10.3, and then replaced the iTunes folder from a back-up from a separate drive. iTunes 10.5 corrupted my iTunes back-up. iTunes 10.5 beta is risky.

Hi, I did this last night and am happy to report that iOS5 is running stably on my iP4.

Few things to note

- I ended up having to use torrents to dl the beta version of iTunes 10.5 and the new iOS 5. Total download about 800mb for both, it was well seeded and didn't take too long.
- I installed iTunes 10.5 beta onto my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard - I personally experienced no issues with iTunes, as many people are reporting.
- to be honest, haven't got a bug to report yet - will keep you posted.

Thanks to Rapidblue for the assistance with registering my UDID on his dev profile.

I'm don't seem to be able to get twitter updates to show as notifications on the iP4 lock screen. Anyone else experienced this? Ideas for hwo to fix. I've been through settings in Notifcations and Twitter app ... no luck.

Nice site tracking all iOS5 changes: http://www.ieatapples.com/ios5/

Does anyone know how or when Apple release updates to the beta or don't they do incremental updates? BEta is working great for me. Was just wondering if they have a Beta2 before full release.

There will be subsequent beta releases. In the past they've got up to about 5 releases before GM.

Running beta 2 and it's hating the mybb app. Only seems to work in landscape mode. All other stuff seems great.

I'm also using beta 2 atm, I'm really enjoying it. I don't use the mybb app but I use Tapatalk, there are crashes every now and then but nothing to worry about really. What I can say is beta 2 is fast. Much faster and responsive than beta 1.

Beta 2 certainly is looking better than beta 1. Battery life appears to be a bit better and it feels a bit snappier. I still have some apps that either won't start or crash in specific places.

I am absolutely hating iTunes beta on Windows. I hope they get it stable before release.
