iOS 5 beta users - Your experience so far ...

Yes thats what I mean. Dial name not number.

It's usually referred to as a "T9 Dialer". There are some in the app store too, but the decent ones are not free. $3-5 should get you sorted
Can't find anything on Cydia.

I know it's a little off topic to the thread, but it was requeated here. Lete know if I should move it.
I found a nice free t9 Dialer in Cydia called kuaidial, in the following repo
http://kuaidial.googlecode.com/svn/deb

iSmart Dialer also looks good, but does not work on my phone (and it's not free)

Ok so I have been running iOS 5 beta 4 since the OTA Delta update went live. Here are my findings:

* Very fast, very responsive and the battery drain is no longer as apparent as it was in the previous betas
* Problem with Photos app has been resolved and all photos now render correctly
* Camera app is very slow to start up and crashes frequently
* Wifi hotspot turns on but nothing can connect to it
* Wifi sync is awesome! I walk into the office and it just syncs
* Some apps crash when launched, but simply launching them again solves the problem
* Facetime over 3G not working (...Yet. I think its a network issues and our SPs have to enable it in their carrier settings file)
* iCloud integration is spot on, and the iCloud web apps are fantastic! Cudos to apple for making one kick-ass web based mail client!
* As yet I have not came across a single applications (of those I use anyway) which has compatibility issues with iOS5.

Overall this has been one of the smoothest beta roll-outs I have ever been part of. Well done Apple.

Hmmm...what kind of battery life are we talking. I get more than a full day of permanent wifi, around 10 calls and constant stream of whatsapp, social media and Twitter, and wifi sync.

FYI beta 5 is out.

Updated yesterday. Battery life seems much better. Phone seems smoother in general.

iTunes BETA 5 is a mess though. Keeps opening and popping up in front of other apps on my PC( Win 7, 64 bit).

Yeah Beta 5 is an improvement over Beta 4 for sure. iTunes on the other hand is indeed still unstable. Mine behaves fine from a windows point of view, but 9 out of 10 times the sync services fail and I have to sync via wifi (no bummer there though). Also have some problems when starting iTunes for the first time in the morning...

iOS 5 beta 6 released

Downloading OTA now. Seems be going smoother than the Beta 4 OTA which took around 2 hours. I never loaded Beta 5 OTA since it required the whole whiping business... Beta 5 was already rather stable so lets hope they keep building on that stability in Beta 6.

Question:
Is anyone else experiencing problems with sending photos using Whatsapp under Beta 5? I just get an application error. And it only applies to photos taken with the iPhone camera... post and prior beta 5.

whipping? I think that for the fetish/off topic section of the forum bro.

Yes had something similar. It solved itself though. The only thing I think I did was switch the phone on and off (for a flight). Not sure though and dismissed it as a beta related thing so didn't think much of it.

I've also had issues posting comments on Facebook from the FB app in some of the beta's. The last 2 have been fine for this though.

1 colleague's phone died completely. Been with Apple for fixing for a week now.

Beta 6 is a tad less stable than Beta 5. Whatsapp crashes when accessed from the lock screen forcing the springboard to reload. Battery life is also not too hot in this build. On the up side the FaceTime and iMessage services now register correctly as opposed to Beta 5 where they didn't register at all. The photo sending issue with whatsapp also seems to have resolved itself.

Battery life improves quite a bit when wifi is turned off. Also check the app switcher for running apps. Sometimes it seems like iOS opens every damned application on reboot. Closing them helps with battery life. Whatsapp crashing the springboard is a massive irritation. I've found that returning to the home screen after sending a message does help with the problem though. Just don't access the new messages from the lock screen.

Discovered by chance over the weekend that you can swipe unlock on the icon of the notification from the lock screen. This takes you straight to that notification.

iOS 5 Beta 7 has be released to developers.

This seems to have messed up the music library on my phone. Had to delete it all, resync with no music and then sync again to fix it.
