One "leak" states ...
According to sources speaking to technology news site TechCrunch, the next generation release of Apple's iOS platform will include some features which, at first glance, appear to be taking their lead from rival Google's Android platform.
While as-yet unconfirmed by Apple, the site seems confident that two of the major features to be introduced with iOS 5 are a completely overhauled notification system, similar to that used by Google in the tablet-centric 'Honeycomb' release of its Android operating system, and interactive widgets that can be installed on an iPhone or iPad's home screen.
These widgets provide constantly updating information on things like news reports, sports scores, weather forecasts, and stock information, and are designed to sit alongside the shortcuts to applications that current live on the iPhone's home screen - much like on the Android platform.
The upgrade is also thought to include improved voice control technology, something Apple has been keen to introduce as a further mark of iOS being aimed at 'premium' users.
The rumours should be proven or disproven on June the 6th, when Apple's World Wide Developer Conference starts in San Francisco.
