Apple unveiled iOS 8, an update to the operating system that powers iPhones and iPads.

One of the biggest additions to iOS 8 is a HealthKit application that will monitor users' heart rates, sleep, weight and blood pressure.

At its Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco on Monday, Apple also unveiled Home Kit, which would enable people to control items in their homes with the iPad or iPhone.

WTF - will the phone blow up to take your blood pressure?

I may just switch to iOS completely with those new features.

Loving this:

That brings iOS as close to Android functionality as I've been hoping ever since I got my iPad. The fact that apps will no longer be isolated and will be able to communicate with each other is a major gain, and knowing Apple, they'll do an incredible job implementing it. :)

Now Apple, bring me the iPhone 6 5.5inch 64GB with IP67 protection and you will get my money! :D

Link above doesn't work. Do you mean normal access to file system and shared folders?

No, it doesn't. Sill app-centric, not user centric like Windows Phone 8.1.
Here is a proper link: http://blog.gsmarena.com/best-new-features-ios-8-know/

I men no more apps running in their own sandbox, apps can now extend function of others e.g. One can install an app with camera filters and the built in camera app will be able to use them.

Right, but it looks like strictly defined plug-in interface or extended clipboard. It has nothing to do with existing sandbox concept. The same can be achieved under iOS6 by transferring file to some other app, applying filters and transferring result back. Does above break sandbox concept? You said 'yes', I also think the same, already wrote about, but I don't want to start another outrage among Apple fans. :)

What is changing, just a new user interface to the same sick paranoia. Microsoft tried app-in-app concept already in Windows. Such system is complicated and takes more system resources than 2 active applications in separate windows. On the lighter scale - Adobe Reader or Flash Player in Web Browser - example for typical plugin.

Nope, but on the 7.0 beta it was never really a problem, but it's ok, back on 7.1.1 now

iOS 8 doesn't seem specifically different from iOS 7 apart from some new needed features.

What device are you running iOS 8 on? I'm keen to find out how smooth it runs on an iPhone 5...

The big differences will come when developers update their apps for iOS 8. The most major change is the fact that any app can communicate with any other, and that apps can open each other's files. It's gonna be a huge improvement in how we get things done on iOS.

I am going to go back to 7.1.x because need my other apps to work. when beta 4/5 comes ill go back and test again
