iOS vs Android in 2021

Google's mobile operating system Android managed to hold its own in 2021 against Apple's iOS after seeing a considerable decline in 2020, according to estimated market share data from the GlobalStats StatCounter.

As of November 2021, Android had captured around 70.74% of the mobile OS market share worldwide, maintaining its position as the world's leading mobile operating system.

This was only a slight decline from the 71.18% it held in November 2021.

A report from Reuters has claimed that this model, which will likely be Apple’s cheapest 5G smartphone yet, could lure nearly 1.4 billion low-to-mid-end Android smartphone users, in addition to 300 million existing Apple users.
Lol yeah no doubt that. People by Android phones because it's way ahead and offers much more customizability. iOS 16 is not going to magically fix that.

Most people don't care. They buy what they can afford and that automatically excludes Apple for a large percentage of people...

To be fair. If my budget was 3k for a device I'd rather go for a new Android than a very old iPhone with battery issues most likely too.
Cool story bro. That "old" iPhone will get 1 to 2 more iOS version updates and the battery will be new. Also we're talking about iPhones somehow being unattainable by large swathes of people. Try to keep up will you...

No way you would buy a 7 for 3k with a new battery in it (that is not done on the sidewalk of some dodgy street)

LOL. so there is probably 50 manufacturers making phones that run on Android, yet this stats compare all of them against 1 manufacturer?
You can buy brand new Android phones for R500 but the cheapest new Iphone is probably 8-9k
Tenderized steak is also leading Wagyu steak in popularity

Do Android phones help with your English? It appears not...

Your Google down?

Lol yeah a toy car.

That's a skewed goal post. If you want to just tick off a checkbox about owning an apple device, nothing is stopping you from buying an iphone 4 or earlier for what should be a much cheaper price than 3k. Same as android, you could say someone could buy a samsung s4 and they checkbox the requirement for owning an android. Same logic for bragging about owning a mercedes or a bmw as an 18 year olds first car, you just go back far enough for an older model that meets a specific budget price point, the statement is factually true but the underlying feeling is underwhelming as opposed to owning a new model for many.

Fact is apple doesn't target the low to middle market segment, and until they do there is no data on what their market share is when selling new phones in that segment. What we can glean is that a demand exists for their older phones (from second place to approaching obsolete) at the price segment similar to new mid range phones, and it is a known general consumer behavior for buyers to prefer new over second hand, so putting the two together it can be projected that there is a potential unrealized demand for mid range apple phones, which may (but not necessarily) increase apples market share.

Why do people still buy the iPhone 6/6s and 7?

Some of them are the first people to say how wonderful Apple is and claim that android is crap

The iphone 7 was released in 2016!

That was 4 years and 3 months ago.

Wtf?

How does Apple's sales figures work?

Aren't these SA people technically buying used iphone 6/6s/7/8 from the SA networks.

"refurbished / certified pre owned" etc.

Technically these devices were sold previously. Are they still counted in their total units sold.
