which Goldstuck said remains an incredible achievement for Apple as it has only a distribution agency in SA, namely the Core Group.

And FNB? Don't they go through their own channel to procure Apple products?

Apple is doing well in this country but I expect the trend to change and follow the international trend where Android is the clear leader at present

According to the latest research from Strategy Analytics, global tablet shipments reached 51.7 million units in the second quarter of 2013. Android secured a robust 67 percent global share, while Apple iOS declined further to 28 percent. Windows also fell back but secured a 4.5 percent global share.

It may be a different story if it were actually possible to get Windows tablets here - atleast less than double the US price.

@Cyclic, it might just be because they haven't actually used them. I show alot of people my Surface and they like it a lot. And they love the idea of a touchscreen on a laptop when I show them my ultrabook.
My wife is a lecturer and uses a Windows 8 tablet too, and lots of her colleagues and students want one.

While your point is interesting, you really shouldn't reference Strategy Analytics. They were found to be dishing out very dodgy numbers in the last week. It was quite a public humiliation for them and the news outlets that quoted them without checking the sources

This is rich coming from you...

In this category, which Goldstuck said comprises premium models with high profit margins, Apple’s share is dramatically higher at well over 60%.

So, if you have a 10" iPad, Apple made more profit out of you than any other tablet manufacturer would have.

Why? I have never referenced Strategy Analytics. Or are you referring to me linking to Asymco, a well respected analysis company, and which to my knowledge has never been found to be fiddling the numbers?
Or is this just a quick ad hominem attack?

You should maybe not believe everything you read coming from Apple. Apple was the one who made a whole story of their [Strategy Analytics] figures being wrong etc...

If you however read the articles coming after that you would have seen that nothing was wrong with the figures. It was made clear by SA that the figures were estimates as neither Apple or Samsung disclosed the exact details. However when digging into the figures they found that the initial figures were not far off.

So in short, nothing really wrong with the information as provided by SA.

What ultrabook?

Windows tablets are a grey area to be honest. that said the Windows 8 touch screen devices are seriously overpriced

I wonder how this is calculated ?

Many Android tablets are imported directly from overseas, I have personally imported 5 Android tablets.

Huh? When did Apple make a whole story about Strategy Analytics? In fact that sounds like an outright lie by you...

You are reinforcing the point of my statement, but I will expand upon it- it's rich for you to disqualify a reference source, despite the fact that you cite one who also provides anecdotal (and additionally, biased) evidence (the very same Asymco you mention here).

Or is this just a quick ad hominem attack?

If you see it that way, too bad for you my friend... Just cut the hypocrisy out, ok?

All I did was point out that SA has been publicly humiliated for releasing incorrect numbers in the last week.
Asymco, which is the only source I have referenced, has not been found to do the same thing.
