iOS vs Android vs WP

Trying it now thanks.

.

Great , Let me know what you think of touchpal.

Remember to check all the settings, you can make the keyboard larger or smaller, using different themes you can make the keys bigger with almost no gaps between keys.

Remember to try out all the gestures such as swipe up when inputting numbers.

Bwahahahaha. Love it.

Scenario 1 - tap typing:
iOS wins

Scenario 2 - swipe typing:
Android wipes floor

I don't think I'm doing it wrong.

Not that iOS is better, what you're doing wrong is not getting 60 words per minute, that's all.

iOS is better at touch typing, but not by much these days.

The only thing that's really struck me as a very impressive differentiator going over to Android now is auto-backup photos with automatic photo stories. That's hella cool.

It's also possible using Windows Phone, but backing up to OneDrive can be problematic if you're putting up the original untouched photos because it sucks up data. I've been reading Steve Litchfield's issues with a Lumia 1020 and Nokia's default and Pro camera app and even on WP there's some disassociation with how things work and what app is the native one.

I've been having the Android vs WP vs BBOS 10 debate internally for a while and I'm not sure in which direction to go. The Z10 is the cheapest phone with a decent camera and image stabilisation, but I don't know if BBOS 10 fits me. Could go for iOS and the iPhone 5c, but that hardware's going to be two generations old soon and battery life isn't stellar.

Android currently suits my very limited uses just fine, but I'd like to do more with it than I'm currently doing on my LG C660. Windows Phone would fulfil the same needs and would have offline navigation, which I may use from time to time. Microsoft may tie Windows 9 and Windows Phone closer together and I might want in on that, but I've seen Microsoft promise one thing and deliver another before.

I also wish that I could have jumped on the Lumia 925/1020 train when it was still somewhat financially feasible.

Well, I've not used a 10" tab in a while so I can't honestly compare recent touch-typing. It used to be that way.

I set photo backup on both my old 4s and the G2 to Wi-fi only. It would destroy my data cap otherwise.

Its sad that the op did not include black berry in the title.

*BlackBerry

Clearly I care more than you and I care **** all.

Black berry is the best, you just don't know it yet...wait sorry, I made an error, wrong parallel univers.

Saying it's the best is a personal opinion.... As much as I love BB10, I don't feel it's the best. For work-related things, it does really well though :)

i think he was joking

I don't know about that :D. To be honest though, when I got my Z10 which I've since sold, I preferred it to the S4 Mini by miles... For the price, it's an excellent phone.

For me though, I don't think I'll go back to BB as a daily for a while :). I'm bored of Android, WP is not perfect for me as of yet so I'm back to iOS...

As mentioned many times though, each OS has its strong and weak points and it's entirely a matter of personal preference on what the best OS is

Gmail - No problems there, will also sync contacts, not sure about calendar items
Google maps - No problems there, Here Maps and Drive is arguably better, offline navigation and voice guidance
Google Hangouts - No official app for this, IM+ offers text chat. Skype effectively feature-matches Hangouts for Windows Phone
Google Drive - No official apps for this. There are workarounds, but nothing outstanding. OneDrive integration is far better.
Youtube - Metrotube and the mobile Youtube site in the browser work around the lack of a default app, browser player continues videos while the lockscreen is on

I loved my time with the Lumia 930 and WP8.1, but there are issues that prevent anyone from just switching platforms without spending some time thinking about it. iOS remains the most neutral ground and offers the best features from both Microsoft and Google services. Microsoft also spends a lot of energy getting their services working properly on Android as well.

Hardware-wise, though, the 930 is fantastic. There's a lot to like in WP that makes it an excellent phone. Here's a recent comparison between it and the Z3 that gives one a clearer understanding of how things match up currently.
