Apple has released iOS 7.1 in a beta to developers.

Here's a few of the changes:
  • instead of saying ‘No Missed Notifications,’ it now just says ‘No Notifications’ when NC is cleared.
  • new Yahoo logo is now present in NC, as well as Weather app
  • seems to be a number of bug fixes related to stability/performance
  • new ‘HDR Auto’ feature in the Camera app
  • new ‘Upload Burst Photos’ option in Settings app (Photos & Camera tab)
  • new ‘Use Dark Keyboard’ option in Settings app (Accessibility tab)
  • Notification Center “Calendar” now has line indicating current time
  • Lock Screen non-simple passcode keyboard has changed
  • With Reduce motion turned on, multitasking now fades in instead of doing the zooming out/in effects
  • New animations for pinch to home screen on iPad
  • New accessibility options for “Reduce Transparency” and “Darken Colors” which cause the dock and folder backgrounds to turn a dark grey
  • The Flickr logo in Settings was changed to the current white version instead of the grey gradient from before
  • Notification Center’s X and Clear buttons are now larger and easier to press

I have installed this beta and animations are much faster. Feels like a new phone. Can't wait till the final version is released.

Could you perhaps post the full changelog? Can't find anything useful with the oracle...

Everything seems a whole lot faster. I agree with you about feeling like a new phone. It's great.

The dark keyboard is a little buggy. I turned it on, and when I return to any message windows, sometimes it takes a while to update to black from white, and sometimes the keys are white, and the background is black. Not sure if it keeps settings per sms conversation or what, but thats what I'm getting.

It's very responsive though, and I'm enjoying it.

Btw none of the features I mentioned appear in a "changelog". These User focused changes are generally discovered by the developers testing the beta or unofficially shared by Apple to a news site (it's certainly never to be found in any "changelog")

What Apple provides FYI is typically 2 documents: Release Notes and API Differences; both these documents contain details that are only of interest to developers,

For example: Apple added AVAudioSessionErrorCodeCannotStartRecording to AVAudioSession.h in the AVFoundation.

The full "changelog" cannot be shared re the Apple developer agreement specifically restricts this, but more so: it's just not that interesting, unless of course you're a developer; waiting for either a bug fix and/or improved coding features.

We should see the jailbreak on 7.1 as well. I'm glad they started speeding up the animations, it was a bugbear for a lot of people.

Source...?

I can't remember where I read it but it's logical that they would want to jb on a stable single digit build. There was something on twitter recently though.

My wish is for them to bring back the iOS 6 Notes and Calendar app. I am hating this Johnny Ive "less is more" bland approach. WTF were they thinking by using grey on a white background ? I find it difficult to see what is going on in Calendar and notes with this stupid move by Apple.

iOS 7, together with Apple's refusal to use bigger displays, was the final straw that made me buy a Samsung Note 3 yesterday....and man am I happy !

I guess so, the problem is that much of reason why people were jailbreaking has been stripped away by Apple iteratively making improvements to cover these.

Plus they've been getting better at making it difficult to find exploits that can be maintained beyond a simple software patch.

Also the JB "demo/cracked" game tools have all but disappeared; and Apple has now built in APIs that let the developers check if the iTunes account purchased the app and accordingly deny / allow; couple that with a move to free with in app purchases, makes this area all but dead.

I'm sure if you checked, you'd find that quite a few people who previously used to jailbreak now no longer see the value in it.

Has anyone else experienced wifi disconnecting when the phone is locked? It's almost as though they turn the wifi off (or maybe some more unnecessary services while the phone is locked) to save battery?

When I unlock it, it takes a while to reconnect.

Yeah had this problem as well when I upgraded to ios7.

Apparently it's an Apple feature. Saves battery as you mentioned.

Weird as on ios6 my wifi never disconnected when the phone was locked.

Strange. I'm only getting it after installing the beta.

And prevents you getting any emails or messages? Worst "feature" ever.
