iPad 2 advantages

Yes ! Part of SJ's DRM.

Anyway, let me get out of here, you guys can polish your marbles in peace.

I must be misunderstanding you. I have two ipods, both full of mp3's ripped with EAC or obtained in ways not related to Apple in any way.

... just a hunch - but maybe's he means the mp3 > m4a conversion?

I also thought iTunes converted everything

I rember I found a hidden folder on my iPod classic a few years back that contained all my music with weird names but still mp3 format. Could have changed but as far as I know iTunes doesn't convert that much(sync times ~ transfer times to USB flash)

You are on the right track - connect your device to a computer without iTunes - copy MP3s over - play them - Good Luck !

And that is what I said in my posts - some of you can't read!

Haha didn't think you meant to say you find iTunes too complicated to use.

iTunes for beginners
-Connect ipod(or similar device)
-Wait for iTunes to open
-Drag music(any format)into your ipod music library displayed in iTunes
-Bobs ur uncle

Well, it does not work on any of my Apple devices.

Oh, and I don't use iTunes. Not going to use poor software like that.

The mp3's are all there in a hidden folder. You have to choose the show hidden folders option

Plug in your iPod. In Windows Explorer, a folder will now appear with the name of your iPod.

Double-click on that. Go to the sub-folders “iPod_Control” and then “music”. You’ll find your music there randomly scattered across multiple folders and with scrambled file names.

Inside of the iPods main menu in iTunes you will find a checkbox to manage your music library yourself, this means your iPod will not be synced with the songs inside of your iTunes library, thus enabling you to use the drag an drop method.

The only converting that will take place is the converting of song that are in strange formats(nabster downloads are mostly responsible for one having to wait for songs to be converted before they can be synced). Hope this helped?

Thanks, but the idea is not to use iTunes at all !

Anyway, I think that this is wasting everybody's time, the architecture is just too restrictive for me.
