If there's no major differences I'm picking one up soon. On the other hand, a USB port port would make me wait a little longer for v2.

I expect that it will only get to SA in 2012, but which time the world will be close to ending, so... when the market is full of cheap dumped original iPads I might pick one up.

I would be willing to bet a lot of money that the iPad 2 will not have a mini USB port. You may have a SD slot

* The iPad iOS is not architected to need one - I mean how would it be used?
* Remember the walled garden

I am happy with the walled garden btw.

DEFINITE
* Front facing Camera
* Slighly Different form factor - Thinner, more iPhone like (with the 10" screen)
* Faster Processor

MAYBE
* Slightly better screen - Not a Retina screen because it chews battery
* SD Card slot
* More memory

NO WAYS
* Mini USB
* Retina Screen

Good assumption Biscuit, i would say that your assesment is accurate...

The only reason i want one is for laptop browsing, streaming the odd movie etc... so i will be happy with the iPad 1 but dont get me wrong i would love the 2nd one.....

I'd be happy to swap my iPhone 3GS (32GB) for a 16GB Wifi iPad 1... if anyone is looking to offload already.

It has to have some kind of data cable though, i am stuck between netbooks and ipads atm i just dont know which one to go for. I am a student at UCT (3rd year) and all the handouts and notes are killing me. I don't need to carry them around when their are also digital copies.
