iPad 2 here on Friday

Have you seen the latest Sony Android tablets? It's the sexiest tablet I've ever seen.

Deciding between that and the HTC Flyer. The Flyer has a stylus, so you can sketch on the display with it. Me likes.

Yeah those Sony's look DELUXE! Still trying to figure out where a tablet would fit into my life, between my desktop, notebook and Android phone, I often think it would sit idle too often to justify the cost. But I do like a funky gadget, so I'll probably get one anyway.

Great news! :D

Any idea if there is going to be a 12AM launch party or how to get hold of one on the launch day? Is there a waiting list or is it first come first serve?

Any info would be appreciated.

If i was in your position, then thats a definite YES, however i recommend playing with an ipad 2 before your decision. ;-)

My sim is a microsim. I have an iPhone 4.

Would you guys recommend selling an iPhone 4 and getting an iPad 2 instead. I don't use the iPhone as my primary phone anyway.

Me too. My phone already has a 4.3'' display, so not sure I need a tablet in my life....but maybe if you're watching tv on the couch and want to do a bit of web surfing?

We'll have to find a place for the tablet! :)

Theres always a place for a Tablet :), just buy one and return it before what was it .....6 months if you not satisfied :D

PS
I would not do the above :p

True :) And I will be upgrading my phone in June to either a Sensation or the GS II. The use will come to me though :)

Hey Guys, I wouldnt count on it! Stock worldwide, theres none - check online... www.apple.com - buying one online takes 1-2 weeks to ship in the USA or the UK. so why would there be stock in S.A!! ??? I think they are just trying to save face from the last time's embarresment! I say stick to those who actually have stock available, and can supply it to you. Try the online guys in S.A they might charge more, but they can confirm they have stock! I was in usa last week, and can tell you, there were major dissapointments walking into Apple stores saying NO STOCK for a few weeks. S.A will see unhappy people aswell! Good Luck. There's some good guys out there who will assist you!

Noob question but can I just stick my iPhone sim card (vodacom topup contract) into an iPad and voilĂ ?

If you have an iPhone 4 you can just turn on the "Personal Hotspot" feature and then you an use a wi-fi only iPad2 as it will use your iPhone 4's data bundle through wi-fi, not sure how long the battery of the iPhone 4 will last in this situation though

Do you get some type of keyboard device for it? I basically need it for media/games, Internet and typing out documents so a keyboard would come handy. Going to look through the "iPad alternatives" thread before I decide. Anyone known if the RIM playbook will have BIS?

Edit: another thing, if I want to just get the WIFI iPad2 and use my simcard to somehow create a wifi hotspot for the iPad to use, how would you go about doing that?

The HTC Sensation looks sensational with the higher screen res. Will become a best seller very quickly. ;)

@Centronix I bought a TRENDnet TEW-655BR3G Wireless Router from Incredible Connection. It has an ethernet port & usb for 3G. I'm using my wooosh with it, and it's working great.
It's very small & pocket sized. Probably the best thing about this black little router is that it has a built-in rechargeable battery. So when Escom stops peddling that bicycle, you, your laptops & internet connection will keep on working for another 2.5+ hours.
Oh, and the iOS's work great with the wifi hotspot connection it creates.

Even with better prices than normal from Core we are still getting bend over

iPad 2 with Wi-Fi will be available in Japan on April 28 and Hong Kong, India, Israel, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey and UAE on April 29 for a suggested retail price of $499 (US) for the 16GB model, $599 (US) for the 32GB model and $699 (US) for the 64GB model. iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G will be available for a suggested retail price of $629 (US) for the 16GB model, $729 (US) for the 32GB model and $829 (US) for the 64GB model. iPad 2 with Wi-Fi will be available in China on May 6, and further international availability will be announced at a later date.

Looks like I sold my iPad 1 at the right time :) If anyone else is in the line at Cresta on Friday morning, I'll see you there!

Pass till Ipad 3 comes out... wait for prices to fall abit. Adding a camera that I won't use not gonna benefit much

...and Apple to do something about iOS. It's still just a bunch of apps on the "home screen" & why it's referred to as an app-driven interface. Very dated look.

Well thats the end of the grey importers in SA then (aka Kalahari, Want-it-all, Have2Have, etc)...ouch...bet they won't do this again!
