ipad 2, who has one?

Waiting for mine... hopefully I will have it by the end of this week, if not, definitely next week.
Ordered a white 32GB 3G+WiFi for R7499 (plus R150 for shipping) from saapple.

But the original Ipad? Who wants that now? I think these guys are taking the piss. Just my opinion.

core sold the original ipad, for R6500, or there about, it is a lot cheaper now. I do agree, it is a lot more expensive than buying it from the states yourself...

At the US app store, the 32GB 3G+WiFi goes for $729.00. The exchange rate now is R7/$, so that gives R5100. So you won't buy it for less than R5000. And then you have to add to that shipping to SA + import duties + all the other crap you have to pay at customs. So yeah, I agree, R2500 more is maybe a tad expensive, but I also pay for the service. Now I don't have to ship it over myself...

I bought it on the launch day (Friday at 5pm), went to Bestbuy and hopped in a pretty short queue (I think there were 10 people in front of me). The Apple store near me was just insane. Mad crowds. The Bestbuy only had 5 of each type but i got what i wanted. My comments from the other thread:

I bought the white 32GB Wifi version. My old one is 3G and i find i never use the 3G because there is so much free wireless in the USA. It really isnt that much different than the old one feature wise. It is quite a bit thinner which is actually a bit of a pain. When you are lying down watching a movie or reading a book the curved edges make it difficult to hold. The new cover helps as you can fold it up behind the Ipad on the left and it gives you something to hold onto. It looks very sleek and modern when you put it next to the old one though. The front facing camera is adequate for Skype video calls, they just need to update the App now so you dont have that 2X issue, and i like being able to flip between the two cameras when you are skyping. Everything is snappier and loads almost instantly and the optimised games are extraordinary... i find i actually use it as a gaming device whereas on the old one it was more of a gimmick. Not sure if it is CPU bound or an app issue but i cant get above 30mb download speeds on the speedtest.net app whereas on my laptop i often hit 65mb. Battery life seems good, averaging about 3 days of heavy use per charge. Price was as advertised $599 + State tax (9%).

Dont forget the Sales tax... Which averages around 6% in most US states.

I've just noticed the online shipping estimates on the Apple store have gone up to 4-5 weeks.

hi guys

please note, although pricing on the SAAPPLE site is inflated, you have to bear in mind as above, the 6.5% taxes plus the customs duties plus the vat charge on the imports. Also, the stocks of the ipad 2 are limited, and SAAPPLE have a supplier which they can receive stock through faster than what it can be purchased at from the Apple stores. If you are willing to pay the inflated pricing, you will receive your ipad in less than 3 weeks, ie. 5 - 10 working days to be more accurate. So should you try to import the ipad yourself, you are looking at a near round figure that StellonBosch paid for his. The profit levels from what i can tell are very very low.
