iPad 3 announcement expected in January

In the past such rumours weren't posted on credible sites like mybb. If it is on sites like mybb or other respected hardware sites then everyone assumes the rumours to be true.

Yes they have. Look at all the speculation that was going around before the iPhone 4S came out.

The process:

1. New upgraded Apple product feature rumour
2. Rumour that release is imminent
3. Release is when Apple decides to release sans feature rumours
4. Rumour that product release is imminent in South Africa
5. Rumour that prices are going to be reasonable
6. Release in South Africa sans reasonable prices
7. GOTO 1

Wow, you're posting rumors from DigiTimes. Notorious for making up the biggest load of garbage and almost always being wrong.
Slow news day I take it?

That rumour has spread to every corner of the world. So the best thing for Apple to do would be to at least tell everyone it's not true. If they keep quiet about it then everyone would assume the rumour is true. I can see a lot of people raging whether it's Apples fault or not.

Apple never engage with rumors, even if harms themselves.
Hell, after Jobs returned to Apple, Apple became famous for firing anyone that let rumors slip (Or firing partner companies who's employees let info slip)

Samsung is releasing a retina grade tablet in February. So retina displays are definitely coming.

If these rumours are true, it's great they've got a decent camera.

0.7MP is a little sad while we're heading into 2012 ... especially considering 'Apple' and 'the future' are often uttered in the same sentence. Still, 0.7MP was a step up from zero

You got to thank Google and Android for this, If apple had tbeir way they would only release a new Iphone and Ipad every 4years or so

I am so over myself that I even own a iPad2. And I am extremely happy with it.

But the fact remains. Apple upgrades one or two things on their current models every few months. Then brand it as a brand new model and the best thing since sliced bread!

And we all know it works like a bomb for them! Other manufacturers are probably so so jealous!
Yup, perceived obsolescence at work!

Perceived obsolescence is much like planned obsolescence in terms of designing a product or part of a product to only last a certain amount of time. The major difference with perceived obsolescence is that it works purely on a psychological level. http://www.greenlivingtips.com/articles/188/1/Perceived-obsolescence.html

With Apple there will be a new iPad model every year. It is a given. Most iPad owners will get into a skip-a-generation acquisition process as is the case with most iPhone owners. The process is very transparent. The specs and looks not.

As for me - owning the iPad 1 and 2 - I'm more than likely skipping the iPad entirely going forward. HTC won me over with their Flyer so I'm keen on seeing what they bring to market.

Likely an iPad 2S.

The rumour mill always gets going this time of year. But January is too soon I think.

Apple never commented on the iPhone5 vs 4S debacle, or anything prior to that. So don't expect anything from them.

Who knows, maybe the next Gen of iPad will actually get around the 20mb download limit over 3G...

Latest tablet of interest for me is the Asus Transformer Prime.

It's a software deficiency, not hardware and hopefully one apple removes before the next gen iPad is released.

It's not a software deficiency. It's a deliberate act by apple to protect clueless lusers from multimillion dollar data bills.
That said it should also have an override option.

It is deliberate ... But I think of all the excuses and reasons I've heard, I chuckle at the 'protection of the consumer' reason the most!

On the contrary. It was designed to protect AT&Ts inadequate network - if you remember back when the iPhone was launched it was done so in conjunction with uncapped internet.

Apple release a product which is generally an industry first (Think iPad, iPhone) then the competition perfects it for a cheaper price (HTC, Samsung). Now it seems the competition is fast becoming revolutionary in their designs and features with Apple playing catchup (iPhone 4S, Mac Pro).

I'm sure the iPad 3 will only be as current as the competitions current devices, just with an Apple logo and iOS.

So all Apple users are 'clueless lusers'? Well said. Brave.

I'd go with, 'a vast majority', but its got nothing to do with data bills.
