So I am wanting to get a new iPad to take with me on travels etc.

Was going to go with the iPad Air (latest one) but then found a second hand 12.9 iPad Pro (2nd gen) for roughly the same price.

I was originally looking at iPad Pro but the price for my use was way too much.

The Pro is 512gb whereas iPad air is only 64gb.

Even tho the Pro is 2 years old I know CPU was a beast back then so not to worried about that.

Just checking if there any reason to not go with Pro?

Yeah I was leaning way more towards the pro.
I have the 2019 Air, and what I miss most is the 4 speakers, and the 120Hz of the pro. I don't think you will notice a difference in processing power, unless you plan on using photoshop or doing video editing. Even then the difference will be very small, and the increased RAM of the pro will be more useful.

Ahh perfect. Was hoping to hear from someone who has used both.

It will be more used for travel and entertainment which is why the bigger screen was my first choice. Will be used for light office work too so should deal with that perfectly.

I dunno much about iPads. But, as macbook and iphone user, I would recommend any pre-owned iDevice. Apple products are robust, long-lasting and pack a lot of performance.

Look online for any known issues with the 12.9 iPad Pro (2nd gen).

Yup.

I have two original launch iPad 2 still going.

Sure the world has moved on performance wise and software support isn’t great any more but it still browses and does Netflix and YouTube just fine.

you are lucky your iPad 2 still works
my iPad 2 will not run DSTV, Netflix, Takealot anymore
right now the only 3rd party apps that i use that still works is Bidorbuy and the Smile 90.4FM Radio

Really cant complain, after 7 years of use i still get a full day battery life and not once has anything ever hung  viva iPads !!!!

Yeah exactly when it goes beyond 5 years it's more than done it's job.

Also surprisingly still have great battery life and I plan to wall mount it as a Smart Home controller one day when I've got enough stuff going on to manage.
