iPad Mini vs Nexus 7 vs Galaxy Tab 2 comparison

Pretty sure you can get the Galaxy Tab 2 for under 4k

Also, The SGT P6800 7.7" 3G is a better comparison with the iPad Mini.

It has been sold locally by Vodacom.

It has a 7.7" Super AmoLED display with a 1280x800 resolution, somewhat better than the display on the iPad Mini.

Specs : http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_p6800_galaxy_tab_7_7-4136.php

It is a bit long in the tooth though, as it was introduced at the end of 2011.

There is also a wifi only model known as the P6810.

So its 50% more expensive than its compeditors who have significantly better specifications.

Also, its still too wide to hold comfortably in one hand, even with big hands, which is the whole point of a smaller tablet.

1.4cm wider than nexus 7

Yeah they should've gone for a smaller screen.

I've found it's roughly the same size as a cheap 5x7 picture frame and tbh it's not hard to hold even though the frame is ever so slightly wider.

Yeah 7 inch tablets are not really my thing so will give it a skip, but the ipad itself is very very competitively priced and this has partly been the reason it has managed to hold of competitors unlike in the phone space where they have been overtaken, with this one though they are definitely out pricing it.....remains to be seen if they can take the lead in this segment, but with the competition having better specs and screens i doubt it.

Which specs are better? It's got a lower resolution screen. However the screen is larger, it's thinner, lighter, better cameras, better GPU.

I know that's what he was saying, merely pointing out the iPad mini has got some improved specs on the Nexus 7.

There isn't a massive difference there in terms of res. Huge difference in terms of weight and thickness though. Lighter, thinner and made of metal vs plastic. Also only a 1,5cm difference in width, that really isn't massive.

In mobile device terms it is actually.

The biggest flop in that list is the fact the Nexus 7 doesn't come with mobile data, if I'm going to have a 7" tablet I want to be able to use it anywhere. I got my iPad2 Wifi thinking that I'd just use my phone (S3) as a hotspot. Sounds good in theory, in practice it's a schlep.

Just tested on a Nexus 7 with USB Host adaptor + PPP widget + Cell C 3G dongle and you have 3G + MicroSD

Oh and it works on the TF101 as well.

Special thanks to Park@82 for bringing the app to my attention.

That's interesting to know (and possibly explains why SA never received the 8GB model). Makes sense too considering that the Kindle Fire HD is also only 16GB and up. The more interesting comparison is across the 16GB devices anyway.

You can't compare mAh to Wh. That's like comparing km/h to RPM.

Leave Uncle RPM out of this!

Seriously though, the table includes all the information that was on-hand at the time of writing (just after the announcement). I usually wait until after the iFixit teardown before updating my own spec spreadsheets.
