iPad selling fast at Incredible Connection

My Acer netbook (250GB, Win7) cost R2500, why would I pay double that for the iPAD ?

First off, do you use it as a toy or for more serious things like word documents, excel spreadsheets? If so, then no, we were talking about people using their netbooks as toys, people like me. We will replace our netbooks with tablets, since the tablet just works better in the toy category. Will I ever try and do a word document or excel spreadsheet on a tablet? No never, for that I use my laptop.

Second, why would you, if you use it as a toy only? I can't answer that, maybe you like the keyboard. Why would I, and the majority of other people do it, well the tablet is just so much better as a toy than the netbook.

And that's exactly my problem with the ipad. Yes, it looks really nice. Yes, it's the 'cool' thing to have. But generally it's practical usefulness seems rather limited. I've never used an ipad so I may be wrong, but so far no one has given me a compelling reason to own one. Just seems that people are more interested in the bragging rights than it's real-world usefulness (not directed at anyone inparticular), personally I'm not buying into the hype.

Well, put it this way, if I had to choose between a netbook and a tablet, and that was my only options, no notebook, then yes, the netbook makes more sense definitely. The tablet can never be your only solution, in my opinion. You could add a keyboard to the tablet, but still the netbook will be better for word, excel, general use.

In my case I have, or will have both. A notebook for real work and the tablet for the rest, toy stuff.

Wait ! - I just thought of one practical use for the ipad. Ipad + Wifi + VNC = universal remote for my Media Center PC (I have a multi-room audio system, so this will actually be a cool thing to do)

Yes there are plenty. You get these iPad power bricks, and I'm sure the cover stuff too.
