My cousin bought IPad 16G abroad, what I would like to know is where can I insert South African SIM as the slot for SIM is small or does ipad have special SIM?

Yes u need to get a micro sim or u can cut your sim to the size of a micro sim. Search google or youtube on how to cut your sim.
