If I buy a device I research extensively beforehand; I don't buy on impulse, get frustrated then ask people to convince me why I should keep it. If it doesn't suit you, sell it.

Say what? The apps I use are top notch, in fact these days I often favour some of my iPad apps to those running on my pc.I'm in the exact same boat! Bought the ipad3 and its the biggest POS ever, referring to the software. The hardware is tops!
Maybe but didn't you follow up with this? You doing it wrong.![]()
For millions upon millions upon millions though, stock iOS is more than adequate.
It may suit me though. I am open to others to discover what I may be missing.
If after this exercise I still don't enjoy it then I will sell it again. At least I tried.
Research != experience. Research says the iPad is the best tablet on the market. My experience thus far does not agree. My own logic says I must be missing something. Hence the thread.
Please go troll another thread dude. There are clearly other people here that disagree with your way of thinking and have contributed immensely to my opinion of this device - in a positive manner.
Seems like you having a bad day. Just please don't go kick the dog now. He ain't done nothing to you either![]()
Cerebus, the thing is that you felt forced to say something when you could have remained quiet. Your comment did not contribute but just created animosity.
I could have said nothing but I didn't. So...... ?
Somehow I get the impression you're trolling the Apple sections... And I'm just not that bovvered if you keep it or sell it. It's not my job to 'convince' you of anything; I'm not Apple's salesman. If I had that iPad I'd know exactly how to use it and it would be set up within a few hours just how I like it. If you thought you could get widgets on there, you obviously just failed to research adequately beforehand; this is Apple. If it's too restrictive get Android. If you think it isn't worth the 'premium' (not exactly sure how many Android tabs offer similar specs for that price, but anyway, I'm sorry for the premium you had to pay), swap it for something similarly valued in the Android lineup. Or give it to this guy.
And you weren't already derailing it with your comments?

Later this month I'm going to get a Nexus 7 from the States, and then I'll probably take it over as my daily tablet and let my wife have the iPad2. I just think it'll work better for me. I've spent a long time researching them together and I reckon it'll be the best option for us. Now if I get it and decide that actually eh it's not really my cuppa, I'm not going to ask the Android guys to sell it to me, and then spend a thread going on about how yeaaa I tried that but eehhh I still like iPad and so on. I'll find someone who wants it, and I'm sure there will be lines out of the door for it, and I'll sell it and move on with my life.

True but you do seem to be acknowledging that research into a product is still fundamental. What I don't understand is why you thought the user experience would be so different from your previous experience with the iPad2 - did you forget that it didn't have widgets either?Research alone won't cut it. Experience seals the deal.
If you do however decide to start a thread, I will be the first one to post. I have a vast amount of Android experience and will gladly share it with you if it can help improve your experience![]()

Not bloody likely mateEDIT: If you still decide to sell it I will take it off your hands.
Tbh iPad is a crotchety winsome wee creature. The only reason to stick around is if you actually prefer the apps versus those on Android tablets. Even then you have to do a bit of horse-whispering to get it to do what you want. But the reason to stick around on the iPad3 is just purely and simply the screen, it's phenomenal. I can hardly even read on my iPad2 since I saw it(hence getting the Nexus 7 with its higher PPI). But you'll only get any joy in this country at least if you jailbreak it and then do everything the backdoors route; it's a mountain of frustration otherwise.
G/l.
A positive atmosphere turned sour when? That is what I mean by derailment.
Not our first scrap about this, you and me.
A major issue for me is the fake US iTunes accounts to get full value. It bothers me to lie to get what I should be getting (especially considering the price tag). One day someone might just feel the need to go after people in SA with such accounts and prosecute them for fraud or something ... or Apple is forced to terminate such accounts by our Gov or an organisation. SARS comes to mind ... lost tax revenue.
I haven't used my US account in months - even though it's not fake and I'm perfectly entitled to have one. Still, if you look at the reason why people favour out of country accounts you can rest much of that blame on SA and not Apple. They're playing by the rules they're required to.A major issue for me is the fake US iTunes accounts to get full value. This thing may come back to bite Apple users big time.
