Well one pays a boatload of money and secondly they could have actually avoided the whole logistical issues around insisting it has to be delivered to your house but they just didnt think.

Secondly the launch day being on a friday wasnt really thought out if they plan on only shipping on friday the 18th the couriers will only arrive Monday because they refuse to work on weekends.

They should have given customers the option to choose a specific store.
Some prefer convenience to sit at home and take a delivery others want speed and precision.

I know I would have chosen pickup in store rather as one is not always at home to accept the package.
It is also the festive season meaning many people will be going away just before Christmas so now they need to delay their travels to wait for a stupid courier to maybe arrive on the 21st etc?
 
If Takealot can deliver it on the 18th then so can the iStore. I think the former is just better at communicating with customers and the latter doesn't want to set any expectations. I'm sure there will be launch day deliveries, this is what happens every year on pre-order launches if that means anything. And after the phone is in your hands you'll be happy you got iCare as apposed to an early delivery :)

Thats fair. It seems like iCare plus includes one accidental damage repair as well? And obviously the extra year of warranty.
 
Does anyone have prior experience with preorders on new contracts at myistore? Will there by any additional contact from them prior to shipping? Especially since final contract pricing is not available during checkout process?

I will chance and rather go into store on Friday morning then.
 
Very expensive at the moment and not really too happy with waiting for a courier. Might pick one up in Jan then or when Carb prices decrease
 
Does anyone know where I can buy the new MagSafe charger. I tried searching for it on the iStore website, yet no luck.

Depends on location, but in Cape Town, Tygervalley, Cellucity, MTN & iStore had in stock this morning (+-11am)
 
What is wrong with normal wireless chargers? We have plenty around the house and they work the bomb despite 7.5w.

Nothing is wrong with the normal wireless chargers, just like nothing is wrong with wanting a purchase delivered on time. Some people want the MagSafe charger, some people won’t mind orders being delayed.

Just let people enjoy their things, man.
 
Assisted my mother. She’s getting hers through Telkom. It’s coming next week. I’m curious if inserting an MTN sim will allow 5G to work i.e it not having 5G is a network limitation and not a hardware one.

If not network locked it should work. Apple will just send the carrier settings for MTN to her phone when you insert a MTN sim card and it should work.
 
Did anyone get an email about whether you qualified for the R1000 iStore gift voucher? I'm still waiting. Not sure if I qualified but I literally pre-ordered 15-20 minutes after they announced it.

Nope nothing here. My order was 0:33. Asked the chat and they said the online sales team will contact you next week.
Also said that preorders are only for delivery and no store pickup.

Does Vodacom still do telephonic contract confirmations? I received an sms which I had to reply to in order to 1. confirm, 2. change or 3 reject...

Ordering so early rekon you should be in a good chance for the R1k voucher. I only ordered at around 9:30am, so I'm not overly hopeful but thought I may as well give it a go.
Let's all let the thread know if you were lucky enough to get.

Absolutely - also ordered around the same time as you. Not hopeful but let's see. It would really help to get the charger and screen protector as ”freebies”, if you will.
 
Do we know if iStore contract pricing will be inline with Mtn's pricing?
