iPhone 12 Rumours & Release Date

Probably. But would rather have my phone on time than a R1000 voucher.
Well imagine if our orders were so early that they aren't even registered and just floating somewhere in their system unassigned...

This happened to me last year with the iPhone 11 Pro. Eventually got the phone in December.

I don't think so. When I got my confirmation call the agent mistakenly thought it to be the blue variant and said it would be delivered next week Monday/Tuesday. When I corrected him regarding the colour he said they're expecting inventory of that colour in January only.
Hmm, will phone them regarding my one as they confirmed stock of it before I got the contract confirmation call.

Care to elaborate on this story?
It was an upgrade I pre-ordered online via the iStore. Pre-order was done shortly after 12AM but when I didn't hear back from them I decided to call myself only to be told that the device has been placed on back order. They tried to shift the blame to Vodacom but I was having none of that. It eventually emerged that they were tardy or just forgot in getting my upgrade processed but since they couldn't just give me a handset that they have available (apparently their inventory is tied to the ISP) I had to wait for Vodacom inventory. It was a mission getting it resolved... What didn't also help was that Vodacom stores were short of inventory too otherwise I would've cancelled that upgrade and done it in-store.

That's why I have zero expectation for the iPhone 12 Mini which I'm getting for my daughter. I was expecting a January delivery at the earliest.

Their marketing email about the R1000 was sent out at 9am-ish. I won't be surprised if our orders that were before then are not counted in their system.

Or... It's limited to purchases of the iPhone 12 only??? Not mini, pro, or pro max? This could be the case, although if it is, it's strange to limit it to a specific version.

Ugh that sounds like a nightmare to deal with. I don't get why it always has to be so difficult with ordering stuff online!

I just spoke to someone on their chat. They are still busy sending out the voucher emails and to be patient. I also asked to confirm if I was within that window and on the list of voucher receivers and she came back with a yes.

I made my order on Friday 10:17, checked with the online consultant and I didn't make it :crying:

"Very sorry about that, I noticed that you placed the order around 10am and by that time the 400 people had already been reached"

I'm actually getting tired with this nonsense, myistore told me they will only start calling preorder customers on contracts Monday next week after confirming stock, depending on network approval etc. delivery will likely only be just before new year or shortly afterwards. I will get one next year around Feb when all the hype and esim waiting is something of the past.

I'm over it.

The handling and communication is so weak. Look how easy it can be in Glasgow above post??

I get that there is limited numbers of stock but damn just let a person pay and reserve and tell them come fetch your phone at this time/date at X store and I will leave you alone  what is so hard about that?

They actually make their own lives so damn hard. I am sure they get killed with emails and calls asking for information.

Consultant just told me they don't exactly know how much physical stock they will be getting in, and therefor a pre-order does not guarantee a phone.

Pre-orders are not guaranteed on the 18th, you will be placed onto the back order list.
Once stock becomes available for your order, as per the list you will receive an allocation to your order.

Fun times:rolleyes: The funny thing is that they must have sort of an idea of how much stock they will get. Since they closed pre orders for a couple of models. unless they get a shipment and it is way less than what they got told so some guys that ordered later missed the mark.

This is starting to sound like the exact same thing I experienced last year. If it is not a cash purchase rather deal directly with the service provider.

Yes, like everywhere else, pre-orders don't guarantee you a phone come launch day but it's particularly convoluted when dealing with the iStore because each network provider brings in their own allocation so they have very little to no control over the inventory situation.

Has anybody else received the voucher? I ordered around 2a.m and nothing yet. :notworthy:
