iPhone 12 Rumours & Release Date

Now that the day is over - glad that most of us at least received our pre-orders on launch (against all perceived odds + the ocean of misinformation). Hope those that are still waiting receive them latest Monday! This thread has been a blast and a comfort, so thanks for the chats everyone!

Sent from my iPhone 12 Pro Max Pacific Blue 5G 128GB (lol)

This is something I’d like to also know, especially on Vodacom network and does 5G work in 5G covered areas?

I’m not in a 5G area and my choice is 4G or 3G as usual. Mind you the Vodacom APN I have in my phone is lte.vodacom.za so I’d imagine that would need to change as well.

MTN has dibs on 5G with regard to iPhones. Only sometime next year will it be available to other networks.

Still want to attempt Dual Sim mode. Need an eSIM from MTN and want to then insert my Telkom sim to use for data.

Pic quality is very poor

Looks like 3 options

LTE
5G Auto
5G On

There's No 3G option
Apologies chose the small option. Should be more visible now.
That is correct. No 3G only mode. Will update once i get Dual sim running and you cannot run 5G anymore.

That sucks as i still use 3G only on my XS, was thinking of upgrading.

LTE consumes way more battery power than 3G

Will hold off for now.

Funny you mention that. I was on Vodacom in PTA and my iPhone 7 had horrible battery life and dropped calls with LTE I just gave up and used 3G.

As soon as I switched to MTN the LTE battery drain was gone!

So i deleted my previous post about RAM losing my package from Vodacom, they found it, but now I'm wondering, anybody know if RAM delivers on weekends? or should I expect my iPhone 12 pro to arrive sometime in the week? and to the people who already received their iPhones, what do you like about it and what do you dislike?

iPhone 12 Pro Max - Honestly it feels so so solid. The design is a sight to behold. And the usability is on another level - I haven't experienced anything like this on any other phone before. Battery life is also excellent so far. The size is also just right for me. And the camera is out of this world

The cons - apparently very prone to micro scratches on the screen, which, obv isn't a problem in the context of screen protectors. The edges are also a fingerprint magnet. Again, this isn't a problem if you're going to have it in a cover.

Other than that, hands down well well worth it. I have no regrets.

Honestly what a frustration activating eSIM on MTN:rolleyes:
Menlyn claims that they cannot activate an eSIM if the Apple Watch or iPhone wasn’t bought at MTN.
Woodlands knows about it but didnt go for training yet.

Ps it only works on contract apparently and iStore claims that MTN hasnt allowed access to eSIM functions on their side.

Similar situation.

2 stores say call 135.
1 store says they got training but can't get it working.

What I'm trying now is asking for eSim for a Samsung watch as apparently they can do that

Will let you know if it works.

Edit : The system is offline ;) even the Samsung version can't be done today it seems.

Basically BS as both methods give you a QR code to scan

Ag honestly they are just dense sometimes and refuse to explore options or even just attempt to do it. I mean whats the worse thing that can happen? The system says no?

They normally refuse to listen to a person saying that the QR code for a Apple Watch will most likely work for an iPhone.

I don't know about RAM. But maybe Monday?

Pro Max - pros: solid design and build quality. Screen is massive and beautiful. Battery life is great. Camera is damn impressive, the night mode is really good. Speaker sound is also pretty great. I think the modem is better, my signal strength has improved a lot from my XS. Cons: maybe bit on the heavy side but I like it, adds to the premium feel. That's about it. No regrets here.
