iPhone 12 Rumours & Release Date

Looking to upgrade soon from an X to a 12, but is just a little concerned about the 12 not having a telephoto lens like the X/XS/11 Pro/12 Pro.

So for those who have had an X/XS etc and upgraded to an 11/12 (non Pro), was it an adjustment to have lost the telephoto lens, or did it not really matter? I just feel that cellphone cameras still don't have much focal length, so it helps to have a bit of zoom, so to speak.

There is also still a part of me that feels that an 11 Pro would have been a better choice - don't get me wrong, the 12 series look brilliant, but there seems to be more issues with it than with the 11 series, I might be wrong, but I wish I could have found an 11 Pro at a good price. But I suspect stock of it has run out ages ago already. If someone does know of a dealer who has "last of the last of the last" stock of it, please let me know!
I must say that I do miss the telephoto lens. Moved from the 11 Pro to the 12 Mini... It’s not always possible to compensate by moving toward the subject.

That said it is something that I’m willing to deal with because the 12 Mini’s size is just so convenient and if I know I will be taking photos I go with my 5D.

Also, there are not many issues with the 12 series other than warmer tones. Go for it.

Anybody, on the 14.5 Beta? Thinking of trying it out.

Not yet, but same- I’m dying for the Face ID unlock when it picks up we wearing our face mask, as long as your apple watch is connected and you’re wearing it!

Looks like my 12Pro is on its way from Vodacom. Ordered Mid December. Its going to the wrong address, but at least its been dispatched...

I know the iStore in Tygervalley (CPT) got a whole bunch of stock this weekend. Of the entire range. Was there to activate \ pickup my Discovery Watch Series 6. Guy helping me said he hoped this would sort out all the backlog they had.

Anybody on a 12 pro Max with MTN that can tell me if when making a call their LTE auto drops to 3G? I don’t ever have LTE if im on a call.
And overall how’s the reception and drop call situation?
I’m having all manner of shyte with this phone and it’s reception and im bordering on thinking I have a hardware fault.
Downloaded a diagnostic app called TestM Hardware, ran the test a few times and each time the only thing to fail is cellular.
Just took the phone to Istore and they ran their diagnostics and of course nothing wrong the phone.
Anybody with 5 min to spare please help.

@Se@n I also tested a call and it stayed on LTE. Have you asked MTN to provision VoLTE & VoWiFi for your device?

Thanks very much for doing that, I really appreciate it.
I haven’t specifically asked them to provision VoLTE - i used to be able to toggle this on and off on my 11 pro but don’t see this in the settings at all. Do I call them and request this?
Lastly are you running a physical or eSim?

Yes I had to call. The agent I spoke to provisioned it and told to wait at least 24hours and I should have the options.

Physical sim.

What does it say for your Network Provider in Settings > General > About

Okay thank you, I called and they say they have activated. I was about to start whinging as it isn’t working but they never mentioned 24hours to me.
See below for network provider details - is this the same as yours ?
Interestingly, I just tested with a colleagues physical MTN sim and the TestM report passed cellular first time so I suspect something to do with the eSim is fooling the test.
Hopefully the VoLTE a will fix my problems.

Jah I have the same.
Just reboot your phone after a couple hours. Goodluck!

I had the same issue with VoLTE and WiFi Calling on Vodacom since their iPhone 5G network update. It even screwed up the eSIM service on my Apple Watch. Anyway, after days of going back and forth all they had to do was deactivate international roaming for the services to start working.

I for the life of me don't understand why these services cannot coexist... Maybe Vodacom just don't want their customers to make use of WiFi Calling when abroad.
