iPhone 12 Rumours & Release Date

Have the 12 Pro. Not a single issue around signal yet… am on MTB the Business package tho? (Corporate Consumer) Not sure if that makes a difference.

Also means I still can’t get an eSim just yet. Fml. Seems like the business contracts still don’t have access to eSims arrrgghh!!

Think I must have a dud. Wish there was an easier way to figure it out without sending to core for a whole week.
MTNs eSim launch wasn’t their finest.

You can, but its a mission to do so at the moment. Basically, they need to add an additional number to your contract and then provision it as an eSIM. Thats what they did for me and it works 100%. Only downfall is that SMS's dont come through to it, but I only use it for data, so thats not an issue for me

Would love to know some more I for around this, and how you did it? Like calling in? Or visit store etc.

was a mixture of instore and email. but now that I know what needs to be done, I am pretty sure it can be done purely via email. I posted in here previously on how to do it. will see if I can find it and amend it

Title: eSIM Complaints
Content: Good day, I am trying to activate the eSIM functionality on my business line. Please could you provision an eSIM for my number (083 123 4567).

This is for an iPhone, not a wearable device.

I would suggest adding as much info as possible, as they take up to 3 days to respond and when you reply to their mail if they have questions, thats another 3 days. But the mail should suffice. Thats basically the last mail I sent them with the help of the people in store which had them enable it for me. You might want to include that it is a second number to the line, but that might confuse them.

Basically, at the end of the day, the eSIM on my phone has a different number, my original number starts with 081 and the eSIM is 060, but when making or receiving calls, it goes through as the 081

Thinking of switching from android (S21) what will I miss and what will I gain?

Current Samsung ecosystem: Phone / Watch / Buds
Current Apple devices: iPad + Pencil / Apple TV / MacBook

How is the 12 Pro in terms of battery life? Will I get a minimum of 4 hours SOT?

Thanks

I would not bother moving right now when the iPhone 12S/13 is around the corner, just wait a little.

As for your ecosystem, almost all accessories are built with iPhone in mind even by Android competitors, so your Watch and Buds should actually work fine on the iPhone, but the Apple Watch and AirPods will work best. For example if you need to unlock your iPhone with FaceID while you have your Mask on, it’s best to have an Apple Watch because of the feature that allows your iPhone to be unlocked if you are wearing your Apple Watch (and it is unlocked).

As for what will you miss and what will you gain, well what do you mostly use your phone for? Because there are things in Android you may lose but you never did care for or use them, for example people used to tell me I won’t be able to change themes, icons or launchers on the iPhone but I got over 3rd party launchers and all that in Android back in 2014, lol and had long been using the stock stuff to keep things simple.

I use my phone mainly for Calls / WhatsApp / Social Media apps / Email / Home Automation / Samsung Pay / Camera

I use Google Home (Assistant) a lot as well as Smartthings & Ewelink for home automation (have the Google Home Hub and Mini at home for voice commands)

I was heavy into customisation etc when I was younger and therefore I didn't like Apple that much but now I've grown up and those things don't amuse me as much as it did before (albeit I still use Nova launcher etc).

Gestures are also something I use a lot (Swipe down anywhere on the home screen for the notification shade / swipe up to open WhatsApp)

I'm looking for reliability / consistency / good battery life.

The last iPhone I've owned was the iPhone 4 and that wasn't even used for a month before selling it for a S3

Since getting a MacBook earlier this year I'm starting to see the benefits of being in the Apple ecosystem

Just check around using your Android watch with iOS. I understand it shouldnt be supported.

Normally Samsung, Huawei watches etc work on iPhones. Apple Watch cannot work on anything other than iOS

You should be good with an iPhone then. My current 11 Pro Max easily gets me 9-10hours SOT, I believe the 12 Pro Max gets around the same.

If you are not in a rush then just wait a little as the new iPhone is around the corner.

Epic!!

Following this email above,

They sent me the email with the eSIM QR code the very next day, which is today… but how long did it take for your eSIM to be active?

Mine is saying “no service” and it’s been at least 3 hours…

It took about a day to be RICA'd. Try making a call off the eSIM and see if the message you get is that it is RICA barred, or something to that effect.

Then, you can self RICA it off their site. With the eSIM they sent, enter in the last 10 digits of the serial to RICA it.

Wish they told you this

Thank you!!

Yep, I hammer my 11 Pro Max during the day as I also monitor our social media, so I usually charge every night but this is what it looks at the end of the day. I think anything from iPhone 11 gets great battery life.

What's REALLY impressive with the iPhone 12 series is the standby time. I will charge my 12 Pro Max to 80% at around 9pm at night, and when I wake up at 6h30 the next morning it's STILL at 80%!

None of my Androids did that. My OnePlus 6T used to use around 5%+ a night. I think it's due to better app optimisation within iOS.
