iPhone 13 discussions

Just recently got the 13 Pro Max. I have a dual sim setup: Telkom eSim and MTN physical sim.

The call volume seems much lower on Telkom than on MTN, which wasnt an issue on my previous Android phone.

Anyone have the same issue?

Pretty interesting comparison video by Marques and Arun, I definitely agree with Marques on how iOS gets these little subtle things so damn right and Apple’s focus on aesthetic which equates to a great UX, I’ve been tempted to get a S22 Ultra purely due to the tech nerd in me seeing it’s spec sheet but I cannot convince myself to leave iOS, it’s just been so good, and having used androids for a long time I know that I’ll be missing iOS by day 2
Ja I just switched back from the S22 Ultra this week to the 13 Pro Max.
While the S22 was a great phone with lots of features. The iPhone gets the small things right.
Im also quite invested in the ecosystem so the S22 didnt really fit in

Congratulations and welcome back!:D

Apple is the only company that has a flawless ecosystem with all of its products. No other company even comes close.

I had to use one of my kid's PC laptops during lockdown, after I broke my MBP, and it was obvious something was missing. That seamless integration between devices.

I love the fact that if I move too far away from my MacBook, I'll get a notification warning me that I may have left my MacBook behind with its last known location.

This saved my ass a few weeks back... I ran into Checkers Liquor after work just before they closed. I had my laptop in my backpack. The security told me to leave my backpack at the front of the store, as no bags were allowed in the sore. I left my bag there, went in and bought my booze, then left forgetting I had a backpack with me. As I'm driving out of the parking, my phone warned me that my laptop was no longer with me. I ran back into the store and grabbed it, just before they closed. Thank you Apple!!!

I didn't expect AirTags to also be so handy.

I need to get me some AirTags.
I always toss my keys in my camera bag at the beginning of an event so I can keep track of both. I get the same warning when I've strayed too far away from them for my own good.

I just wish I'd got the four pack but tbh I kind of doubted their usefulness.

I once left my camera bag in the shopping trolley after I finished unpacking and only noticed when I got home, cameras, iPad, wallet with a significant amount of cash, cards, drivers licence.

Fortunately an honest person found it and handed it in to security.

The very next day I bought AirTags...

I have an AirTag, still doubt it’s usefulness, in my formative years I was well trained to put **** down on a place, so ive technically lost my keys once in my entire life, and that was by leaving them in my motorbike ignition at the waterfront.

I may buy another one as my current job will require occasional trips to JHB so dropping on in my suitcase maybe.

I was going to buy one for my wallet after it played hide and seek in my car, but then Apple pay came out and I stopped carrying a wallet.

The one I do have is in my bakkie and that was mainly for shits and giggles. I don’t even remember it’s there when I forget where I parked. Lol.

This is probably insane but I noticed these 2 dots in the corner near the cameras.
Its only visible at certain angles and certain lighting conditions.
Im a bit OCD and it really irritates me even though I know its such a minor thing.
Its like getting that first scratch on your phone and you cant look past it.
I was considering taking it back to the iStore to get a replacement but I know they probably wont exchange it anyway as it is cosmetic. It is still within 7 days of purchase though.
Would anyone else be bothered by this?
My phone is in a case 99% of the time anyway so I never really see it but I know it is there. Lol.

It would bother me so I would definitely take it back. Also it will effect your trade in value should you ever sell and the irony is that the iStore would mark it down if they were purchasing it.

Ja thats true. At the iStore now lets see what happens.

Sorry about that. Any luck getting it replaced? Did you have to cause a scene?
I always see threads about stuff like this at MacRumours, in the USA it seems pretty normal to return a product for basically any reason and they will exchange, but I’m curious if iStore would as lenient as US retailers.

TBH, that's true of any Apple retail store.

Is there a way to restore my iPhone 13 to IOS 15.7 from 16.03?
Seems like IOS16 chews battery life!

Not sure how but it is possible with a max, 16.1 has done some work to fix the battery drains, but it needs more work.

You’ll have to Google a guide, there is some process where you download the install binary and load it up from the computer. From what I recall though your iCloud backup becomes useless, you cannot restore into older versions. So it will be a complete from scratch setup, you’ll get the basics like contacts and photos and whatnot, no apps or app data.
