Yeah if you are on Beta though on old phone you get forced to update to the same first.

But even after that was a disaster for me and could not do direct transfer at all, ended up doing iCloud recovery as even a manual backup was full of ****.

Yeah similar story from 18.1 for me.

Ended up having to DFU the phone.

Also convinced my AdGuard was making some kak so turned that off but think it was already cocked up then.
 
Back in action but no luck transferring phone-to-phone with BETA. Tried turning BETA "off" but still getting the endless install loop. With try with iTunes.

You need to set the new one up as a new phone first and then update it to 18.2 beta. Then reset it to factory and then do the phone to phone transfer. It won’t work as long as the old one is on 18.2 and the new one is on an older firmware AIUI, anyway.

Sorted, thanks all. Just treated as new phone then installed BETA on new phone then restored from iTunes.

This is the same country that just willy nilly decides to ban VPN's and takes half their corporate clients offline in one shot and then over a week to resolve instead of just cancelling the stupid immediately and using their brain for a bit first.

Apple Intelligence available in the UK as of today (EU in April 2025). Knew Brexit would eventually pay off.

been trying this "new" siri and it doesnt really feel any good (plenty referrals to a web search result). Assuming whilst the new interface is there this apple intelligence aint, and we wait for Dec ... or .... this is it (eina)

the photo cleanup thing is not too bad
