iPhone 16 Series

I'm due for an upgrade and I'm tempted, but I'd be replacing my phone, watch, buds and a number of Smart tags.

How much effort/cost is there in switching from Android and are there any major pitfalls?

Very expensive, less customisation, but usually more straightforward interactions between devices. If you like Android, don't switch IMO.

Its not cheap, but you're going to a far more robust, far more advanced platform once you upgrade. Also check if some cannot still work with the iPhone until you've replaced them? There are iOS apps for some watches, buds are BT? and so forth.

Obviously the best life is to be had fully on the Apple ecosystem but don't feel pressured to jump into it at once, just do it over time.

Nothing much. Even Whatsapp chats you can transfer these days. Costs you can keep low with a watch SE for R8k and AirPods 3 for R4k.

I'm on 83% on my iPhone 12 bought on launch (4 Years old now)

Quite surprised at the battery lasting this long just not happy with the trade in pricing for it

With CarPlay in use everyday , mix of cable and wireless charging and quite bad charging habits

What price are they offering you?

I think the 14 series had worse battery longevity

Edit: checked mine and the estimate is 16k for a trade-in

Seems the newer iPhones batteries are worse as some in this thread have my 83% battery health on their 15 Pro Max's

Was going to jump to a 15 due to the blue colour but the trade in price for a 4 year old iPhone is just sad

This is something that I often ponder... when is the best time to trade?

Trade in once a year for newest model = highest trade in price, smallest cash outlay

Every year after is lower trade in, higher cash outlay.

For example, I did the trade in option on the iStore and they offer R17,400 from my 15 Pro, so is it worth forking out ~R10k every year or rather keep and spend more for every year it gets older?

It depends on how sure you are that you will upgrade guaranteed to the latest iPhone every year, personally I only upgrade when it is worth it like going from my 12, but for your 1 year old iPhone pro model you've lost 10k value in a year is shocking

iStore seems to be ripping people off on trade ins as they will happily buy your 15 pro at 17k and sell it on iStore pre owned at 26 999.

Edit: on a perfectly immaculate iPhone 15 purchased in March

So what is interesting is Apple at the Keynote offered 80%-90% of the value of the previous 15 series when buying a 16

iStore will knock 10k off the value of the 15s, the stark contrast of trade in deals is shocking

Or Google Play Services going haywire. Happened to me many times on Android. Sure I had Siri going rogue but was able to fix that myself.
