Iphone 2 just announced!

Lets think of it like this ... if the iPhone 8gig comes in under R2000, why would anyone want to buy a ipod nano 8Gig (this retails for R2000) ... the truth is at a price of under R2000 it will kill the sales of any of the ipod nano's, even the iPod touch, not to mention the competitor brands like Nokia's N96 thats is due out ... so i really doubt we will see a price of under R2k ...

is there not something in the law about competitive business and undercutting your competitors as unfair business practice ... i dunno!?

at under R2k everyone will have an iPhone ... time will tell ...

Maybe Apple wants to phase out the ipods?

They have always been useless anyway, except for the harddrive ones of course.

The nano and the touch/iphone serve two completely different needs.

IMO It would be a sad state of affairs if cutting everyone else's over-inflated prices was illegal.

but still the iTouch is an iPhone without the phone ... if i was in the market for an iTouch id buy the iPhone even if i dont use the phone functions ... logically why pay over R3k when i can get the same plus more for under R2k, even if i dont use the other functions

im recalling the thing when tata came in VW made a big wooha about the price and they could not price it at the cheap R30k or so price tag they set out initially ... just thinking the same thing will happen with the iPhone ...

but def at under R2k its gonna shake the market up

For starters, u don't get a bill from Vodacom

According to Christian De Wet of Maverick magazine the new iPhone 3G 8GB should be here around July. He is SPECULATING the phone to cost around R4000-00 on pre paid and a pay in of R1500-00 with a Vodacom package costing around R500-00... Either way it represents pretty good value for money if these costings are accurate...

Doubt Iphone will launch in this Country. The Previous Iphone never launched, because the service providers had to pay Apple.... I wonder if this iphone will come to our shores :)..

BTW. maybe the phones will be network locked to the Sim Card, why wait 12minutes for the phone to be activated ?
I am asking why so long, it can take maybe approx me 10mins to activate it, but will they open the box, check to see if the phone is working
