On the London Underground? Well, underground there is no coverage. In some stations, if you aren't too far from the entrance, you can get cellphone reception, but I haven't tried GPRS/EDGE.

But since more than half of the London Underground is above ground, those areas have normal reception.

EDIT: I'm only commenting on GPRS/EDGE since that is all I have.

so nothing has changed - I expected that cell repeaters|extenders would have been installed in tube stations - especially zone 1 & 2.

It wouldn't bother me one bit if they don't. It's really annoying to have to listen to people's conversations every morning. It wouldn't have bothered too much if, during rush hour, the tubes weren't so jammed, but when you've got someone chatting away 15cm from your ear, it's massively annoying.

True, maybe that's why the network operators don't provide on-tube coverage, and of course someone might not hear the 'mind the gap' warnings due to being too friendly with their cellphone...
