Iphone 3gs activation os4.01

I have an iphone 3gs , carrier locked. Its currently on 3.1.3 and jailbroken with blackrain. I want to udate it to os 4.01 and then jailbreak using the new jailbreakme.com site via safari. If i understan right i have to update via itunes,but as far as the activation goes? how would i bypass this? or does itunes only ask for activation if i restore? once the software is activated i can go to the wi-fi and the jailbreak,then use ultrasnow to unlock, right ?

Yes but first be very sure that the unlock will work with the specified OS and that you have all backups. You don't wanna be sitting with a locked phone.

I think your phone is already activated.

Sorry for that - new to the my broadband. Understanding you correctly, i can go and update itunes wont ask to activate again (because its been activated) ? unlock should not be a problem,its been released. Thanks for the response , highly appreciated.

wouldn't it be better to restore, then update, then jailbreak again?

What is the reasoning behind you thinking to restore first then update ? Either ways itunes going to load a fresh os 4.01 ? My main consern at this stage is not activate again. Thanks for the reply.
