How is this a confirmation of a launch date? Date ? I see no date. Simply an assumption of when stock is "expected" to arrive. Do not trust anything Vodacom says, even if it is coming from the CEO. They have given us false promises in the past with this whole iPhone ordeal.

:) I am getting it. Apple know how to market. I see myself waiting for there product update more so than most companies. Not to mention it is worthit with all those new apps coming everyday! I want to try the face to face video calls, can't wait!

Why not save money and buy basically any of the other smartphones on the market, they all do the same thing :P

I am an iphone fan love my 3GS even tho for an "ipod" the loud speaker quality was nothing compared to my N95 but anyway there is no way im getting the iphone4 for the same reasons as pretty much everyone else. The signal issue which is the dumbest thing ive ever heard. U are APPLE and u dont think u should mAybe do a quality assesment on the device before u put it out there? And now they offer everyone a stupid cover to make up for the bad workmanship which means everyones iphone looks the same. If u ever been to apple iphone site u should watch the video about the iphone 4. Talks about facetime and how its going to revolutionize the way we communicate, correct me if im wrong but hasnt video calling been out for like 7 years already? And with any other phone u can actually make a video call on 3G whereas with the iphone u have to be in a wifi network. So basically the only time u will be able to do a video call on iphone is when ur at home or at the office connecting to ur modem While being 10 seconds away from ur pc where u can use skype or any other IM

Wow thats quite a rant i got going on here lol excuse my spelling errors i am
Typing using my iphone lol

Well, now(then) people can pick between this or the iPod touch.

I've used it for 6 weeks now and I can say I'm quite the fan of it (having been a BlackBerry fanboy before). The signal issues have been blown completely out of proportion.I've never had any issues with dropped calls or dropped signal, although that might be 'cause I've had a cover on the thing since day 1.

Dude, just read slowly what you have just said.....it's people like you that will buy ANYTHING Apple throw at you.

Oh, and you'll always win the "spot the dufus" at any party with your cover on your phone. Real men don't use covers on phones....it's GIRLY. :p

I agree with @unskinnybob. I have a 3GS and the 4G doesn't really offer anything that I need. The 3GS is still fast enough. For people with older models like normal 3G and down, would seriously recommend upgrading.

I'm still very happy with my iPhone 3G....it's running iOS4 with an redsnow jailbreak, but I didn't select multitasking and cydia on the second restore, just dual wallpapers and battery meter. Can easily keep this phone for another year, but I might be swayed if Vodacom get their asses in gear and get stock of the Samsung Galaxy S.

iPhone 4G is falling behind now, the HTC Desire already molests the face of the iPhone every day of the week and Android is only getting better so unless Apple bring out a good phone soon they are just gonna be marketing the same junk for the next year or two.

Has the antenna issue been resolved yet? Not sure if I want to trade my 3G for the 4G if I can’t hold it like I want to. Kingrob, I agree, I don’t like a condom on my phone .

Will this be only available from Vodacom? What about the other mobile providers like MTN, Cell C, Virgin or even Telkom?

Absinth, there are strong rumours that MTN might also offer it on contract this year.
