So why havent you communicated this to the people that have signed up for pre order?
 
I popped into the Cellucity store in the V&A Waterfront on Friday... According to the peanut in charge there the whole shipment was sent back for a "software upgrade" and the phones will only be available mid October. WTF?

Seriously... What is the whole issue...?
Is it really so difficult to give an official estimated date of release & pricing info?
Not as if there is any real competition between the suppliers - the prices are artificially kept high :(
 
Just spoke with someone from Cellucity and the phones are in the Vodacom warehouse apparently. They will be available mid week (after the 21st midnight launch party), already booked mine :D

Edit: And they just confirmed this via email as well.
 
Got a similar response after some more queries....
All they can say is this week some time. Supposedly there is an ordered media blackout.... they are still colluding to fix the price
 
Hi all

apologies regarding the initial post, the person assigned to our online department is new to myadsl. Basically the iPhone 4 will be launched at midnight on the 21st, so in essence, in store on Wednesday. Vodacom hasnt issued out the contract / upgrade deals yet, however the iPhone 4 will be priced at the current 3Gs pricing (with the 3Gs dropping) so we are expecting that the deals will be similar.

The bad news is the first batch of stock is very very limited, with Vodacom only getting a small order supplied from Apple.

iPhone 4 arrives in SA

Sources at Vodacom have confirmed a launch party at its Vodaworld campus in Midrand, Johannesburg on Tuesday night with a midnight launch of the iPhone 4.

MTN has also confirmed that it will be stocking the Apple device, exclusively available from Vodacom until now. MTN is rumoured to be also planning a midnight launch on Tuesday night, but would not confirm or deny this.

Prices for the iPhone 4 are not available at time of writing, but both Vodacom and MTN will provide the device via contract, or as a cash purchase.

Not at all, I really would like an Iphone 4, however if its completely retarded price wise then the Galaxy S will do me fine thanks. This is attitude of myself and pretty much most of friends, the days of the iphone being light years ahead of the competition are over...
