My iPhone died. It was sent to Vodacom in Jhb. They determined that it is a manufacturing error and the phone will be replaced....

BUT... They do not have any stock and nobody in the entire Vodacom organization seems to have a clue when they will receive stock again...

Does anyone know of a Vodacom dealer with stock?
From what I can gather the MTN stores get stock quite regularly... Can anyone confirm this.

At the moment I am so frustrated with them that I don't care if they have to buy a handset from MTN and ship it to me...

The service & support provided by Vodacom is a disgrace...

good luck buddy. average wait list time seems to be about 6 weeks.

No... not yet...
Will phone around this afternoon.

Just spoke to the friendly folks at MTN. Their stores get stock at the worst every 2 weeks.
Any failures or replacements move to the TOP of the waiting list... No excuses & no questions asked.

I approached Vodashop on the 6th of October to order a new phone and start a new contract with them after migrating over from another provider.
I was told they were waiting for stock. I went back to them the middle of the next week and asked them what the situation was. Their response was ... you are 19th on the list and we get about 3 a week. This meant a 6 week to 2 month lead time (if I was lucky). I went back to them 2 weeks later and asked about the progress, only to be told there was no stock in the country and Apple could not tell them when supply would resume.

One would have thought Apple would have learned from their previous supply fiasco with the 3GS.

Guys, I've got an iPhone 4 and I can honestly tell you the iPhone 4 is not worth all the trouble you guys are going through. Get something else. There's BlackBerry and Android devices that's also good.

Different strokes. I find the iPhone 4 to be far superior than my HTC Desire, Blackberry 9700 and HTC HD2 I had earlier this year.

It may be far superior for you because you've got one. A Galaxy S or BB Bold/Torch now may be better for some than a number on an iPhone waiting list. The iPhone is great, but not that great imo.

The iPhone works very well for what I need... If only Vodacom can wake the F... up and get their stock control & support in order.
Their incompetence is mind blowing !! :(

eish so im not the only at least. I got on the "list" beginning of october and still waiting. I spoke to vodacom yesterday and she showed me the bulletin that she gets directly from VC and it states supplier (ie apple) doesnt have stock and no estimation of arrival.

So ya rock in a hard place...

Vodacom suck balls! They are so f ing incompetent it's scary. why the f do they advertise the bloody iphone 4 on their website if there aren't any??

MASSIVE FAIL for the iPhone 4 in S.A.

There are a lot of people considering other phones because of this - my 3G is now 2 years old and i honestly don't want to upgrade to anything other than apple.

I am seriously considering another one from the UK... Since Vodacom is so clueless. The way it looks now it will be a miracle to get the replacement phone before Christmas

The unfortunate reality for us in SA is that China is absorbing more iPhone 4's than Foxconn can make and Apple will not jeopardise their relationship with the Chinese market. We here at the southern end of Africa cannot demand more attention. And don't think it will be better with the iPhone 5. Those who can get their hands on iPhones in SA should count themselves very lucky.

Vodacom sent me to Dion Wired who had stock. Apparently they are trade partners so it doesnt matter if i signed with them or vodacom as its all the same.

+1 Ive had just about every HTC device since the Qtek right up to the HD2 and 3 Crack Berrys and the Iphone4 is leaps and bounds better than any of them, sure if you only do BBM and email then the Iphone 4 wont seem to impresive but for a power user and after jailbreaking there is no comparison

That is where I got my iphone 4 from 2 weeks ago. Their service wasn't great. Took me about 3 hours to get the phone but at least I got it.
