iPhone 4s Screen Yellow Tint

There's a good thread here. The screen on the 4s is warmer tinted than the 4 which means it skews yellow rather than blue. It's just a factory calibration thing. if I put the 4s next to my father in law's 4 the 4s seems more naturalistic to me.

There are jailbreak tweaks that can modify the calibration bias of the screen.

Yeah that's exactly it. Almost like switching between standard or cool mode to warm mode on your TV.

Going to take some getting used to.

Here are mine

That actually looks a bit hectically yellow. Are you sure it's not off colour?

Maybe see if you can find another 4s to compare it next to. It's hard to tell but i now put my phone next to the 4 and it wasn't so noticeable.

Yes I'm going to do that. Perhaps pop into an istore this weekend. I read that Apple replaced some of these back when they were released (except you'd sometimes end up with another tinted one), hope they'll do the same now.

I got a good look at them together now and my phone actually looks noticeably LESS yellow than my father in law's. I think it's closer to an accurate spectrum.

Your 4S looks less Yellow than his 4?

Just switched it on and noticed this, especially compared to the 4. Anyone else have it? Found a lot of hits regarding it online.

This "issue" started way back when the 3gs came out. Some users claimed their screens had the "blue" tint and some users complained they had the "yellow" tint. This has been going on for years. My 3G, 3GS, 4 AND 4S were all "yellow". With my iPhone 4, I was successful in swopping it out for the "bluer" tint screen (this was back when mtn just started stocking iphones and the staff was not yet clued up with the product). Now they will just tell you that if it is not a physical fault, they won't swop it out as apple themselves do not see this as a manufacturing defect. My wife, by luck, always get the "blue" tint screen. I personally prefer the "blue" tint. This is not just with iPhone 4 versus 4s. This can be 4 versus 4, 4s versus 4s etc. Just depends on where your iPhone was manufactured. Through the years this always bugged me so I have read up about it quite a lot. From what I can gather Apple makes use of different screen manufacturers for their screens. I recall Samsung, LG and Sharp. It depends on which batch of screens end up in a specific factory. I also recall reading that different factories use different methods to calibrate the screens.
In most cases the "yellow" tint came from specific factories compared to the "blue" tint that came from different factories.

Here is a website where you can enter your iPhone's serial number and get information about the manufacturing plant, date manufactured and in which week. http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

My screen is yellow tinted. Screenshot of my info:

I don't really mind the warm tint that much anymore, actually prefer it for videos but I prefer the crisper white/blue tint for text and browsing. Not going to bother trying to exchange it but I might perhaps try to take the screen from the 4 and transplant it to the 4S.

Jip. I just had to make peace with it. Seems like the yellow tint is drawn to me.. hehe.
My wife and I both have the iPad 4th gen. Same story. Her iPad has the "blue" tint and my one has the "yellow" tint.

Maybe when they first came out, now they'll tell you to FO.

Not necessarily. A new phone is under warranty still. I've actually got a small real defect on my phone's screen where there's a little bright patch on the upper right and I've been thinking to take it but there's no apple store nearby at all.

do we have to take it to an apple store and not mtn ?

or is it quicker to go to the apple store

You can take it to MTN but I'd prefer the Apple store directly. But my one 4s isn't from MTN, in fact I'm not sure where it's from as I got it off Gumtree. It's a very minor flaw but you can see it.
