iPhone 4S Vodacom contract pricing emerges

If I can only get the 4s on a new contract, I will definitely port to MTN. Less wait, and will probably be cheaper. Is it really worth upsetting a whole bunch of existing customers for only 1000 new ones? Which in the grand scheme of things is really a small number. Just can't figure out where Vodacom are coming from.

Any company with any sense of commitment to customer service would give preference to existing clients. This just goes to show how warped the telecoms industry in SA has become.
I agree this is the exact same crap they did last year; was close on 2 months after the launch that they only started providing solutions for existing contract holders.

I am also very disappointed. Also on upgrade. The Vodashops who are supposedly launching with the phone still has no idea how many phones they are getting (I'm guessing 0 - few). At least they don't seem to differentiate between contract and new guys.

To all the new guys: Enjoy the attention now - in two years you will be in the same boat as the rest of us poor "loyal" long-term Vodacom supporters.

Looks like MTN's iPhone 4S pricing is as follows:
  • R499pm (MTN 200) 16GB ,
  • R649pm (MTN 350) 32GB &
  • R819pm (MTN 500) 64GB

(all incl 250MB data x24 months)

I think the ship sank around Cape Point and only one box bobbingly arrived in the harbour.

LOL @ MTN. What you smoking, went in this morning and took the more superior Galaxy S2 after reading those prices.

Just went past my local vodacom shop to see if I can get a heads up about tomorrows launch, they only have 17 iPhones! and they are all pre booked. :wtf:

Ok, sitting in Vodaworld with a dealers pricelist in front of me.

16 GB is R49 per month additional on a iPhone Talk 120s or R1199 cash pay in with normal subscription rates
32 GB is R99 per month add on an iPhone Talk 120s or R2399 cash pay in with normal sub rates
16 GB is Free on an iPhone Talk 240
32 GB is R4 per month on an iPhone Talk 240 or R399 cash pay in at normal subscription rates

This is with Vodacom SP, Nashua seems to have better deals but I will never touch them again.
I have other prices as well!

Hi ebendl / All ...

So what's the latest on the Vodacom pricing?

Are they(Vodacom) catering for new contracts only or upgrades as well?

Are there enough stock of the iPhone 4s at Vodaworld and the rest of the launch stores (Vodacom Shops) ?

What are the Vodacom contract deal prices?

iPhone Talk and standard Talk package prices on the various iPhone 4s models (16GB,32GB,64GB)

Contract Package price breakdown - Admin costs , contract price, handset pay-in (per month or once-off) ...

Thank You

Regards

(Probably not allowed to share this, but hey, Vodacom should be making it public anycase)

Vodashop availability - no idea, sorry! Some launch shops I phoned on Wednesday still had no idea of stock availability. Vodaworld had some stock left at around midnight for the 16 and 64 GB (I asked around 23:00 and the guy said they still had ample - enough for friends of me to drive there at 23:30 and each secured a phone).

EDIT: They are now catering for upgrades as well - most people I saw at Vodaworld last night went for upgrades.

I agree! Please, if someone in CT finds a shop with stock, do share...

Vodacom Shop in Bayside Mall said they have (did not actually ask to see the box), but it is only 16GB and 64GB. I'm really looking for a 32GB myself, but I'm really considering just going for the 16GB rather than waiting weeks or months.

Thanks. I did some phoning around, I also contacted Vodacom which also did some phoning around in the Western Cape. It seems as if very few shops got stock in, and all the shops keep them for people on their iPhone 4S list... So now I've started phoning the shops again and ask for my name to be added to the list...
