Hey guys and gals.

I am not too clued up with Apple stuff, learning as I go along. I'm the IT dept for our branch and setting up iPhones.
Recently I got a used iPhone 5C back, but wasnt able to get the PIN to log into the phone.

So I would like to reload the iOS, get into recovery mode. According to google results, you turn off the phone, hold down the home button and then plug the data cable connect to your PC. It does start up, but not into recovery mode.
I think its running iOS 7.0.something as the turn of button is kinda square, not rounded like 7.1.2 is.

I did this with a iPhone 4 before, but to be honest, kind remember exactly.

Can this be done? If so, how?

1. power off
2. connect usb cable to pc and phone
3. hold power button 3 seconds
4. hold power and home for 10 seconds
5. hold home for 10 seconds

What I did to enter DFU.

*sigh*

I am trying to not dislike Apple, I am desperately trying...

Now it looks like Apple only allows you to update to iOS 8 and not iOS 7. I need iOS 7 becuase Airwatch currently has an issue with downloading email from our servers...so I cant use iOS 8. (I've downloaded the *.ipsw files so I shift click the upgrade button, select the *.ipsw file and upgrade, did that for all phones to get them to 7.1.2 before 8 was released. According to google, upgrading to anything below 8 is disabled by Apple servers?)

Yup, disabled downgrading you iOS.

Man, I'm not one of those that dislike Apple for being Apple, but my recent adventure of setting up ~50 iPhones and explaining to users, have left me a bit....meh.

So now I have to google some kind of downgrade if possible.

You won't be able to install anything except the latest iOS now (which is 8.0.2). Once Apple releases their new version they stop signing the old firmware. In the case of 8 they left the signing window open a little but that then closed, for previous versions it was closed within a few hours.
So for any restore of any phone's iOS that is 8.0.2 capable that is the only version that Apple will allow to be installed.
No way around that to my knowledge.

Yeah mine too, unless you start unlocking the phone and jailbreak.

What's the issue with Airwatch and your mail servers? Is it a compatibility issue with Airwatch and iOS 8?

Shouldn't be...

Downgrading is impossible with or without jailbreak and/or saved blobs (unless you still using an iPhone 4)...

Hi. According to our main IT dept in Sweden, they have issues with the VPN profile not downloading. Also according to them, they are working with the AirWatch dev team to get it work asap.

I have those files, but, as I understand it, Apple wont allow you to install a lower version of iOS. I shift click on the update / restore button on iTunes. I then choose the iOS 7.1.2 ipsw and then get an error that it can do it, gives some numbered error. From searching, I think Apple HQ needs ok it before the install goes ahead, they stopped that since end of Sep.
