iphone 6 bending defect

It's a real problem that's apparently affected 9 people so far. Sounds like a crisis at Apple HQ.

Actually, it should be. 9 people in the space of a week may not sound like much, but what happens once the rest of the devices have been subjected to longer periods of wear and tear? How many more will end up bending as a result of this? We don't know, but this will get worse before it gets better.

Thing is it's a very expensive brand new device.
Once the new wears off people will start treating them more naturally, that is when the bending flood will begin.

Well there was a thread

That's my point. 9 bent iPhones and Twitter, Facebook, and multiple forums and websites are abuzz with it and some think Apple is like a cultist religion? I reckon the church of iHaters has a burgeoning membership too!

Well, we don't have all the facts do we? Could just be a bad batch like the swelling batteries were in the S4's? And if there is a structural issue, Apple may fix it on newly produced plus's.

Definitely this is going to effect sales and how people handle their iPhone plus. Some one who isn't fond of pouches might be forced to use one etc...

9 reported to Apple. How many others not reported to Apple but to other places?

The only way to establish these stats is to go and return the device to Apple, other places cannot return devices. The social media can also be riddled with deliberate "Bend" issues and even "Fake" complaints, this is becoming scaremongering to sway the buyer's decision.

Yep you're quite right. Or it could fade away and end up being a footnote that people were so worked up about a very minor matter. It's quite premature, and obviously totally false to suggest that Apple didn't stress test their hardware adequately. However, as you say it could also end up being quite an issue that they need to rectify their manufacturing to fix.

True, but we don't know this just yet. Their statement on the matter was a load of waffle, with zero indication that they will even investigate the problem. To my mind, not speaking about an issue indicates that there is a bigger underlying problem, but that's just me.

From most of the reviews I've read, it seems that using it with a cover of some kind is a necessity. Conspiracy theorists may just say that this is so that Apple can obtain extra revenue through accessory sales, but that's just good marketing and product support IMO.

For sure. We don't know enough yet. But best to prepare for the worst, hey?

Angry Apple Fans Are Now Saying The The iPhone 6 'Bending Problem' Is Just A Media Conspiracy

When he is bending it with his bare hands, the phone shows 2:26 pm. Then, talking about it that later claiming it has bent as a consequence of his actions earlier in the video, the phone shows 1:58 pm. Then later when he is summarizing, the time on the phone is 1:58 - 2:00 and has a bend in it. Then it shows 2:00 pm and the phone is straight with some possible damage near the volume button.

It shouldn't have bent at all. Just like the standard iPhone 6 or HTC One.

It's not a rock, or a thick solid piece of metal, or a flexible piece of plastic which can tolerate bends and keep its shape. It's thin metal which has very different properties to plastic. A bend stays a bend. If Samsung made phones out of premium aluminium, bends would stay bends too. They would not return to their shape like plastic does.

I reckon the church of iHaters has a burgeoning membership too!

Far more fanatical. And driven by specs and paper performance.

What's is the point of making the phone so thin if you are going to need to fit a thick cover on it to make it survive being in your pocket. I keep 2 phones in the same pocket and I can drive for hours with no problems. They Could have made it thicker and added a bigger battery. And not let the camera bulge out.
