Btw, did Apple make a statement on this issue or are they still thinking how to approach this matter?
Usually they blame the consumer, as with iPhone 4 radio (signal) debacle, that users was holding their phones wrong.

Gripping any mobile phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas.
