iphone 6 bending defect

Usually passionate opinions are backed by more data and statistics than a few videos and pictures. It is quite startling how so much came from so little evidence.

Oh god please go watch the videos I posted. Other brand Metal phones also seriously outclass the iBend

I don't think anyone is worried about that, beyond everyday use and the odd oopsie. I'm certainly not concerned about non iOS metal phones withstanding more extreme force than the iPhone. It has no bearing on the durability of the iPhone in everyday use, which is and was always the issue here.

My guess is that the iPhone think tank also believe in focussing efforts on factors more significant than contesting the structural integrity against other devices under the most abnormal circumstances.

The #bendgate saga's fears, as well as many peoples' 'facts' and their own outcry, have had their case closed.

What's is the point of making the phone so thin if you are going to need to fit a thick cover on it to make it survive being in your pocket. I keep 2 phones in the same pocket and I can drive for hours with no problems.

There's nothing to worry about.

They Could have made it thicker and added a bigger battery.

The 6 Plus has 60% more battery life than the 5s/6. The 6 is 0.7mm thinner and bigger than the 5s, whose battery it matches.

And not let the camera bulge out.

True, that is a disappointment. But Android flagships bulge too. And if the camera is as good as it's being made out to be, and that is what it takes to be the best, and it is implemented in well thought out way, it's something I'm happy to live with. Most people also use covers, which will even things out.

So, the verdict is in - the Note3 is the undisputed champ of bend-tests at 150lb pressure (yoh!) but there's nothing structurally wrong with the iPhone 6+ which takes 90lb to break - i.e. well above normal usage, and Apple's own estimates of 55lb. It's even stronger than the 6 @ 70lb (along with the One M8). As I said, it's a bunch of media hooey over nothing.

Personally, I've never had a case-less phone since the pre-iPhone days and if you're carrying around an enormous slab of glass and pricey electronics in your pocket, IMO you're an idiot to let it go bareback. My wife's 4s was protected countless times by her case.

So I'm an idiot because you and your wife are careless? You have your wires crossed.

Lol sorry don't mean to be personal.I cracked my old iPad and iPhone due to not having a case and I'd never take the chance again.

Maybe been posted before... if so, soz... but here;

So after four days, I have a slightly bent, slightly scratched phone. Which means that, while this is the best hardware I’ve ever used—from the processor to the camera to the display—I’m worried about durability.

And look, for me this isn’t such a big deal, because I didn’t pay for the phone. It’s a loaner, sent over by Apple. But if I had paid $1,000 for this phone off contract—or even $300 for the smallest version with a new two year contract—I would be pretty irritated. I certainly would be in line for a replacement.

This is a luxury phone. This is the status symbol phone, the one you high-roll into a Macau casino holding. Bending, or warping, or whatever you want to call it after a few days is unacceptable.

But this is what’s so nuts: Even with the bends, I’m still extremely into the hardware. Even with the bends, I still love this phone. I can’t say if the phone is going to keep bending, or if it’s going to get really bad with normal use, because that hasn’t happened to me. I love the hardware, but if you’re thinking of buying this phone, you need to know that it’s delicate like a tea cup.

There are some other minor quirks. The camera doesn’t always open from the lock screen, which makes catching those kid pics frustrating. The apps crash too frequently—even Apple’s own apps. But the biggest downside to me is that iOS 8 just isn’t as productive or customizable an operating system as Android is. You may be able to bend this phone, but you can’t bend it to your will.

I doubt the battery is in the way or it would have helped prevent the bend...

Flexible battery? or perhaps it is the battery that pushes the screen out of the chassis?

ooooor Perhaps [Tinfoil Hat] he is not even using an iPhone 6+ at all... maybe a HongFong knock-off clone? [/Tinfoil Hat]

Also... I cannot see any titanium re-enforcement things in those photos... as claimed by Apple.

Well... some of us keep wearing our tinfoil hats for THAT very reason! :p

Lol, I was just glancing at your link and must say that simply at a glance either there is lots of play between battery and back or you will have to bend at a specific edge for damage to occur. Im going to give this a bit more thought and interest/ research though and will reply if anyone is interested.

My Note3 has a slight bend in it. Not in the middle but from the top right to the bottom left.

It is very slight but still, can it be the start of things? It's one year old though.
