iPhone 6

Any advise... My Touch ID seems to be significantly less accurate and more hit and miss 7months into ownership. No drops or dings or other funny stuff. Also not an excessive app user so I really only have the main few installed. Any guesses as to why and how to fix?
Yeah so mine has it's moments. This will sound odd but, during the course of the day it's really bad, night and mornings it's really good. Looks like my hands get really dirty in the day or something!
So no answers for you I'm afraid, but you're not alone. And it has gotten worse the last month or so - never had this issue the first couple months.
Do you perhaps have a screen cover that has shifted slightly? Mine did and it affected how much of my thumb came into contact with the home button.

Strange stuff, I'm going to try reset and re calibrate my finger prints.

I have a glass screen protector but it's pretty much in the right spot and no overlap onto the home button that I can see.

In the first few months I would say it was as close to 100% accurate as it could be but now I'm finding myself having to retry more times that not with the eventual input of pin code after 3 failed attempts. Equally strange is that I haven't had to retry when using snapscan, only when getting past lock screen.

Maybe do a reset no it so that you can rescan your finger?

My 5s only got better over time. But I do see a decrease in accuracy when my hand get dirty etc.

I also worked with thinners once and for the following day or two it was almost useless :D

I registered 4 fingers and I have no issues. Unlocks first time every time.
PS: My phone is now 6 months old.

FWIW, my 5S has been working perfectly since it came out. Any occasional hiccup, is mostly due to the 'condition' of my fingers.

Not suggesting some have'nt had issues - but would say, by and large, it works, and works well. YMMV, obviously.

5s is the best iPhone IMO.

True, its fingerprint sensor is even ahead of the S6.

Love that instant unlock. :)

I always find when taking my gloves off it doesn't work for a while.

Maybe it's a temperature thing?

Has anyone ever had any luck getting an iPhone 6/Plus that bent from normal usage replaced? Despite the fact that they swap them in the US, both Vodacom and the iStore insist it's user damage, even though the phone has been in a case since I got it and it's never been dropped.

No advice other than my sympathy.

I thought this was a non issue?

Doesn't seem like it with the guy above or the fact that Apple us are replacing them.

And the fact that the s models are now made of stronger materials. Why change it?

Really doesn't seem like a non issue.

It is an issue but it's not as serious as everyone was made to believe. Maybe 5% of them will suffer from that?

Will be difficult for someone in SA to take ownership of the issue though... Apple has much better service than Core unfortunately

I'd say more like 0.1% are legitimate.

5% if we include user error.
